Captain of the Captains

Football | 6/25/2025 1:01:00 PM

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Two-time women's basketball team captain Maren Louridas has been voted Captain of the Captains for the 2025-26 school year, while football co-captain Landon Robinson has been named the Deputy Captain of the Captains by the team captains of the 36 varsity sports at the Naval Academy.  The vote took place while team captains and brigade leadership participated in the Gettysburg Leadership Encounter. The two-day Gettysburg program facilitates leadership development experiences on the site of one of the most significant engagements in our nation's history.

Louridas and Robinson will not only work hand-in-hand with the other team captains but will work with the Naval Academy's Center for Experiential Leadership Development, Naval Academy Athletic Association leadership and Brigade leadership in the professional and athletic development of Navy's student athletes.

Coming off a postseason berth in her first season as team captain in 2024-25, Louridas, who is the third women's basketball player to be named Captain of the Captains, returns as the leader of the Navy women's basketball squad in 2025-26. A three-year starter for the Mids, Louridas was selected by her teammates to serve in this prestigious leadership role for the second consecutive campaign.

A three-year starter for the Mids seeing time as both a guard and forward, Louridas has been a member of Navy's starting five in 91 of a potential 92 games and registered 688 points for a 7.3 per game average. A well-rounded player, she's contributed 493 rebounds and 159 assists with 73 steals for her career. Often charged with defending the opponents' best player, the Delmar, New York native rarely leaves the court as she saw 1,017 minutes as a freshman in 2022-23, 927 as a sophomore and 764 as a junior this past season for a career mark of 29.4 minutes per game. During her first season as the team's captain, Louridas averaged 5.7 rebounds per contest this year, good for 10th best in the Patriot League. She grabbed 10 or more caroms in five games during the 2024-25 season, including a career-high 13 rebounds at Holy Cross on Feb. 22.

A standout in the classroom as a cyber operations major, Louridas has posted a flawless 4.0 cumulative grade point average over her first six semesters at the Naval Academy. A three-time member of the Patriot League Honor Roll, Louridas earned spots on the Patriot League All-Academic Team and on the CSC Academic All-District Teams in each of the past two seasons.

Robinson has started 13 games in his career, starting every game last fall at nose guard.  He was named First-Team All-American Athletic Conference and First-Team All-East and was named 2024 Army-Navy Co-Most Valuable Player with quarterback Blake Horvath.

Robinson is the strongest player on the team, squatting 650 pounds, benching 435 pounds and has a 33-inch vertical leap. He has been named to Bruce Feldman's "Freak's List" in the Athletic in each of the previous two years and is expected to be named for a third time this summer.

Robinson has recorded 89 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and eight sacks in his career, which are incredible numbers for a nose guard who has played in just 25 games in his career.

Robinson is also dangerous with the ball in his hands, carrying the ball three times on fake punts for 87 yards.
