ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Navy women's rugby team (1-2, 1-2 NIRA) fell to Lindenwood (2-1, 2-1 NIRA) 64-17 on Saturday afternoon.
 
"That was a very talented Lindenwood team that we faced today. They were big, fast, and physical," said Navy head coach Murph McCarthy. "This was a big task coming into their place and we fought hard for 80 minutes. I am proud of the grit that we showed today."
 
The Lions opened the scoring just two minutes in with a try from Irie Farley to set the tone for a high-octane first half. Lindenwood racked up 36 unanswered points before Navy could find its footing.
 
The Mids' first breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Emma Magness scored the first try of her career to make it 36-5 at the half.
 
Navy continued to fight in the second half as Mia Young found a gap in the Lions' defense to score her first try of the season in the 56th minute. Aleksandria Gabbard also scored her first try of the season in the 78th minute, while Meagan Alvarez extended her scoring streak to three games with a successful conversion kick.
 
The Lions added four more tries in the final 25 minutes with scores from Brianna Beath (58th and 61st minutes), Lucia Del Campo (68th), and Joselin Lopez (73rd).
