BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Navy women's triathlon team captured its first collegiate cup victory in program history on Saturday morning at the Duquesne Collegiate Cup in Beaver Falls, Pa. The Mids totaled 433 team points to outpace second-place Duquesne (421).
"This is a big win for the triathlon program and I am so happy with the team's level of execution today," said Navy head coach
Billy Edwards. "This was a huge field and our first championship distance event this year (750m/ 2Okm/ 5km). A young squad with three freshmen and two sophomores in our scoring five is about as good as you can get when it comes to thinking about current successes and future potential."
Navy was led by standout finishes from
Natalie Wang and
Madelyn Berry. Wang finished second overall with a time of 1:03:23.6 to set the tone for the team's success as she was Navy's top finisher for the third-straight race. Her stellar performance was followed by Berry who took fourth place with a time of 1:04:09.5.
Dylan Cashin added to the Mids' victory as she finished in a ninth-place time of 1:04:59.1, while
Allison Miller and
Keira Wilkinson rounded out the team's strong scoring with finishes in 10th and 12th places, respectively. Miller crossed the line in 1:05:23.2 and Wilkinson posted a time of 1:05:58.9.
MC Kistler (34th place, 1:11:54.1) and
