Navy holds a 14-7 advantage in the series with Yale, which began during the 1911-12 season. The teams last played Dec. 30, 2006, when Yale posted a 74-59 victory in Annapolis.
Yale has won four of the last five Ivy Madness Tournaments that have been held (there was no tournament in 2020 or '21), including three of the last four (2022, '24, '25), and made corresponding trips to the NCAA Tournament. This recent span includes a victory over Auburn in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs have posted an Ivy League regular season record of 45-11 and an overall mark of 85-39 over the last four seasons. Yale compiled a 13-1 mark against Ivy League teams as part of a 22-8 overall record in 2024-25.
Tulsa posted an overall record of 13-20 last season and finished The American regular season with a 6-12 record.
Rhode Island tallied an 18-13 record a year ago, which included a 7-11 record during the Atlantic 10 regular season. The 18 wins were the most for the Rams since they won 21 games during the 2019-20 season.
Single game tickets for the Navy basketball season will go on sale at a later date.
The television schedule for both teams will be announced later this fall.
Women's Schedule
The turnaround of the Navy women's basketball program continued in 2024-25 as the Mids increased their win total by five and qualified for postseason play with a spot in the 2025 WNIT. After winning 19 games and going 11-7 in the Patriot League, Navy went on the road to Old Dominion and took on the Monarchs in the program's first postseason contest since 2018. Under the guidance of sixth-year head coach
Tim Taylor this year's Navy squad has even higher aspirations and will test itself with a challenging non-conference slate before turning its attention to an 18-game Patriot League schedule.
The 2025-26 season kicks off for Navy on Friday, Nov. 7 with a road contest at Delaware. Following that date with the Blue Hens, the Mids will begin a three-game homestand with tilts with Longwood (Nov. 12), Florida (Nov. 16) and Rider (Nov. 19) coming in quick succession. The matchup between the Mids and Gators is the third in their respective series and first game to be contested in Annapolis. Navy's second road game of the season is lined up for Nov. 23 at Richmond versus a Spiders team that went 28-7 last year and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The 2025 Navy Classic rounds out November with four games set to be hosted at Alumni Hall over the weekend of Nov. 29-30. On day one, Navy goes head-to-head with Manhattan before turning its attention to Duquesne on the second day. The fourth team involved in the two-day event is Liberty.
The stretch run of non-conference play consists of two road games sandwiched around a pair of home contests as road matchups at Radford (Dec. 4) and South Florida (Dec. 21) surround back-to-back Sunday tilts at Alumni Hall versus Iona (Dec. 7) and Christopher Newport (Dec. 14).
Road action highlights the first portion of Patriot League play for Navy as the team will be away from home for its conference opener on Dec. 31 at Boston University, as well as at Bucknell (Jan. 7) and Lafayette (Jan. 10) in consecutive games. The Mids' conference home opener is scheduled for Jan. 3 against Holy Cross.
Navy's initial matchup versus service academy rival Army will be at Alumni Hall on Saturday, Jan. 24 with the 2026 Women's Basketball Star on the line four weeks later on Feb. 21 at West Point.
Other dates to note during conference play include Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 14 versus Colgate and the regular season finale on Wednesday, March 4 against Loyola.
The 2026 Patriot League Tournament begins the ensuing Saturday, March 7 with a pair of first-round bouts. The rest of the schedule consists of quarterfinals on Monday, March 9, semifinals on Thursday, March 12 and the championship final on Sunday, March 15.
Men's Schedule
Navy returns all five starters from its 2024-25 team that advanced to the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament. The Mids ended last season with an overall record of 15-19 and tied for third place in the Patriot League regular season with a 10-8 record. Navy returns nearly 90 percent of its scoring from last year's team that closed the season with a 7-2 record in its last nine games.
The Mids will play games this season against 2025 NCAA Tournament teams Yale, North Carolina and UNCW. This will be just the third time since Navy joined the Patriot League in 1991-92 in which it will play three non-league games against teams that appeared in the previous year's NCAA Tournament (2006-07, 2021-22).
Navy opens the 2025-26 campaign with a Nov. 3 game at Presbyterian in what will be
Jon Perry's first game as the head coach of the Mids. After playing host to Yale in the Veterans Classic, the Mids travel to Happy Valley (Nov. 11) for their first game against Penn State since David Robinson and his Navy teammates faced the Nittany Lions 40 seasons ago on their way to the Elite Eight round of the 1986 NCAA Tournament.
Navy is back in Alumni Hall for a Nov. 14 game against Washington (Md.), then will travel to Tobacco Road for a Nov. 18 game at North Carolina. The last time the teams met was in the first round of the 1998 NCAA Tournament, and the only prior meeting in the 20-game series between the teams that dates back to 1920 to be played at the home of the Tar Heels was in February 1936.
The Mids again return home for just a single game, a Nov. 22 contest against NJIT, then head back to North Carolina for a multi-team event over Thanksgiving weekend in Wilmington. Navy will play Gardner-Webb on Nov. 26, UNCW on Nov. 28 and Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 29.
The final month of the calendar year starts with a Dec. 3 game at Delaware State. Navy then will play host to Air Force on Dec. 7 in what will be the first game between the teams in two decades. Games against Coppin State (Dec. 19) and Rosemont (Dec. 21) close the non-league slate.
Navy opens its Patriot League schedule with a home game against Boston U. on Dec. 31.
Navy will play host to Army on Jan. 24 and vie with the Black Knights in the Star Game on Feb. 21 in West Point.
The dates for the Patriot League Tournament are March 3, first round; March 5, quarterfinals; March 8, semifinals; and March 11, final. Each game during the tournament will be played at the home of the higher-seeded team playing in the game.
