ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy offshore sailing team capped off its second weekend of the fall season with a first-place finish, as the Midshipmen won its division at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta in Chicago, Ill.

After a
Nancy Rhodes-led crew placed 11th at last week's J/105 Fleet 3 Women's Regatta in Annapolis, the Mids had a pair of strong showings at events this weekend, with the first-place GLIOR and five boats competing at the 69th Race to Oxford from Annapolis.

Rhodes skippered a crew of
Lois Herring,
Olivia Schuchard,
Jordan Hall,
Logan Hayes and
Ford Buckley at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta, taking first- or second-place in five of seven races, beating out runner-up College of Charleston by one point for the J/105 division title.

WIth nearly 100 boats in total, the Fall Race to Oxford saw five Navy crews competing in the PHRF A division, with
Colin Caraher's WARRIOR crew finishing second in class and
Samuel Mentel's HONOR placing third.
Eddie Konjoyan led his DARING crew to sixth place while
Aden Newman guided his INVINCIBLE boat to seventh and BRAVE finished ninth for skipper Matt Irving. In the return trip, the Hammond Memorial Race, Irving and the BRAVE crew finished first to close out the weekend.

Navy continues the season Sept. 13-14 with the Hospice Cup and the Shields Trophy, with both events being hosted in Annapolis.
