Navy Wrestling Opens Two-Match Road Stretch at Bloomsburg, American

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A two-match road stretch begins for the Navy wrestling team (3-4, 1-1 EIWA) when it travels to Bloomsburg (9-12) for a Friday night dual at 6 p.m. in Bloomsburg, Pa., before heading to the nation's capital to face American (5-7, 1-2 EIWA) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
 
Friday's dual will be streamed on FloWrestling, while Saturday's matchup will air on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
Navy split a pair of duals last weekend, falling 20-15 to 20th-ranked Lehigh before rebounding with a dominant 30-9 home victory over George Mason.
 
Against Lehigh, the Midshipmen trimmed the deficit to two points three times (9-7, 14-12 and 17-15). Navy won four of the final seven bouts behind victories from Kaemen Smith (149), Jonathan Ley (157), Danny Wask (174) and Zyan Hall (197).
 
The dual was decided at heavyweight, where sixth-ranked Nathan Taylor scored a takedown in sudden victory to earn a 4-1 win over 14th-ranked Spencer Lanosga, sealing the match for the Mountain Hawks.
 
Navy rebounded in its matchup with George Mason, using an early surge and three bonus-point wins to secure the victory. The Midshipmen jumped out to a 12-0 lead through the opening three bouts and clinched the dual by winning four of the final five matches, highlighted by a technical fall from Hall and a pin by Lanosga.
 
Navy Notes
  • Navy is seeking its first road victory of the season. The Midshipmen's two road losses have come against ranked opponents in 21st-ranked North Carolina (20-18) and 20th-ranked Lehigh (20-15).
  • Navy's three victories this season have each come by at least 14 points.
  • In its three dual wins, Navy has claimed 22 individual bouts, including 15 by bonus points.
  • Head coach Cary Kolat has sent out the same starting lineup for three-straight duals for the first time this season. The Midshipmen are 2-1 during that stretch.
  • Sixteen Midshipmen in the projected lineup against Bloomsburg could make their first dual start of the season.
  • Danny Wask is the only Midshipman to start and win all seven duals this season, with six victories coming by bonus points. He leads the team with 16 wins overall.
  • Wask has set a career high with five major decisions this season.
  • Zyan Hall is enjoying a breakout campaign, posting career highs in total wins (14), dual victories (four) and wins over ranked opponents (three).
  • Daniel Williams is expected to return from injury and is listed in the projected lineup for both Bloomsburg and American. Williams last competed at the Navy Classic on Nov. 2.

Scouting Bloomsburg
  • After finishing 1-14 last season, Bloomsburg enters the weekend with a 9-12 record, its most wins since the 2021-22 campaign.
  • The Huskies are led by heavyweight Mason Rebuck, who boasts a 16-5 overall record. Jace Schafer (125) ranks second on the team in victories (15) and leads the current roster in career wins (58).
  • Rebuck holds a 13-3 dual record, with nine bonus-point victories, including a team-high four falls.
  • Schafer is 11-2 in duals this season, with all 11 wins coming by bonus points.
  • Bloomsburg has dropped six of its last seven duals following an 8-6 start, including a 39-6 loss to George Mason in its most recent outing.

  • Navy and Bloomsburg renewed the series last season for the first time since 1998, with the Midshipmen posting a 46-0 victory in Annapolis.
