#9 Rifle Opens Second Half of the Season Against #4 West Virginia

The Midshipmen and Mountaineers begin competition at 8:30 a.m. at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The #9 Navy rifle team (7-2, 2-1 GARC) returns to action this weekend as the Midshipmen host #4 West Virginia (14-1, 2-0 GARC) in a Great America Rifle Conference match at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range. Competition on Saturday morning begins at 8:30 a.m. and live results will be available.
 
Accessing the USNA
The United States Naval Academy (USNA) is closed to all vehicles without a Department of Defense-approved identification card. All other visitors are encouraged to park downtown and walk through the security gates at Gate 1. When walking on, those ages 18 and over must present a photo identification card (driver's license) to gain access and those ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
 
National Standings
Navy enters the weekend with a 4727.60 aggregate average through five matches. The Midshipmen's score places the team in ninth in the NCAA in the national standings. The Mids are one spot back of the coveted top 8 for one of the NCAA Championship spots. Memphis, who the Midshipmen will shoot against next weekend, is eighth with a qualifying score of 4728.67, setting the mark to beat to enter into the top 10. Currently, West Virginia is in fourth with a qualifying score of 4743.67. Kentucky ranks first in the overall team standings with a 4752.00 qualifying score.
 
Scouting the Midshipmen
Through five matches in the fall, freshman Tyler Wee leads the team in all three disciplines. The rookie leads the way with an 1188.4 average in aggregate thanks to a team-best 590.0 in smallbore and a 598.4 in air rifle.
 
Senior Parker Haydin is one spot back of T. Wee in each category. Haydin boasts an aggregate average of 1184.4. He has a smallbore tally of 587.6, while notching an average of 596.8 in air rifle.
 
Junior Isabella Baldwin is third on the squad in smallbore, air rifle, and aggregate averages. She has a 585.2 in smallbore, while notching a 596.6 in air rifle for a combined average of 1181.8 in aggregate.
 
Junior Ryan Wee is fourth on the team in smallbore and aggregate shooting. The older Wee brother is fourth in smallbore with an average score of 581.2, while coming in fourth on the team in aggregate scoring with an 1166.8. R. Wee has an average of 585.6 in air rifle.
 
Senior team captain Catherine Dely is in the top five for air rifle and aggregate. Dely is fourth in air rifle with a 590.7, while coming in fifth in aggregate with a score of 1162.8, and just outside of the top five in smallbore with a 572.2.
 
Junior Chelsie Glover is fifth in smallbore with an average tally of 574.4, while ranking sixth among Midshipmen shooters in air rifle (587.6) and aggregate (1162.0).
 
Seniors Grace Shepard and Devin Uhrich follow for the Mids. Shepard is fifth in air rifle with a 589.0, while adding totals of 569.4 and 1158.4 in smallbore and aggregate, respectively. Uhrich is just outside of the top five in each category with averages of 570.8 (smallbore), 586.0 (air rifle), and 1156.8 (aggregate).
 
Freshmen Preston Everette (570.5 SB; 579.5 AR; 1150.0 Agg), Audrey Hart (545.5 SB; 582.8 AR; 1128.3 Agg.), and Bennett Hilgenberg (531.0 SB; 546.8 AR; 1077.8 Agg.) round out the scoring for the Midshipmen.
 
Scouting the Opposition
West Virginia enters the weekend with a 14-1 overall record, including a 2-0 mark in the GARC. Most recently, the Mountaineers opened the spring portion of the schedule with a 4736-4683 victory over Akron at the WVU Rifle Range.
 
WVU's Griffin Lake leads the team and is second in the NCAA with an 1190.0 average in aggregate scoring. The junior averages a 592.0 in smallbore with a 598.0 in air rifle. Lake is followed by Lauri Syrja and Jennifer Kocher, who boast aggregate totals of 1182.83 and 1182.75, respectively. Syrja has a 587.2 smallbore total and a 585.7 air rifle score, while Kocher has a 587.0 score in smallbore with an average of 595.8 in air.
 
Last Time Out – at Army / vs. Alaska Fairbanks (Nov. 23, 2025)
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The #8 Navy rifle team recorded 4729 points to post a pair of victories at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center in West Point, N.Y. The Midshipmen defeated #9 Alaska Fairbanks by seven points, 4729-4722, while besting match-host #16 Army, 4729-4688.
 
The 4729 points by Navy was the third most in program history. In smallbore, the Mids scored 2347, which was the eighth most in school history, while the Midshipmen's score 2382 in air rifle tied for fifth most in the Navy record book.
 
Once again, freshman Tyler Wee led the team, finishing with an aggregate score of 1191, which was two points shy of his career high that he set against Akron. T. Wee matched a season high score of 593 in smallbore, marking the third time this season the freshman has tallied a 593 in smallbore. The Wake Forest, N.C. native shot a 598 in air rifle, coming in just two points shy of a perfect score.
 
Junior Isabella Baldwin was second on the team with a season-high 1185 aggregate performance. She registered a season-high score of 587 in smallbore. Baldwin matched T. Wee for a team-high 598 in air rifle. It is the fourth time in five matches that the Nashville native has recorded 595 points or more in air rifle, coming in one point shy of her career high score of 599.
 
Joining Baldwin in the 1180s was senior Parker Haydin, who carded a combined score of 1180 on the day. He carded a score of 583 in smallbore to go along with a 597 in air rifle. The 597 in air rifle marked the fourth time in four matches that Haydin has recorded a 597 or better in the event.
 
Junior Ryan Wee finished with an 1171 in aggregate scoring, tying his season high. He was balanced on the day with a 584 in smallbore and a 587 in air rifle.
 
With an aggregate score of 1164, junior Chelsie Glover set a new career high, topping her previous high of 1163 that she shot in the last two matches. She started the day with a career-best score of 578 in smallbore, while adding a 586 in air rifle for her new best in combined scoring.
 
Seniors Catherine Dely, Grace Shepard, and Devin Uhrich rounded out the scoring for the Midshipmen. Dely carded an 1156 thanks to a 567 (smallbore) and 589 (air rifle), while Shepard was one point back with an 1155 on a 570 (smallbore) and 585 (air rifle). Uhrich posted scores of 567 (smallbore) and 582 (air rifle) for an 1149 in aggregate scoring.

Following the match against West Virginia, Navy hits the road for a pair of matches against Ole Miss and Memphis. The Mids take on the Rebels in Oxford, Miss. on Saturday, Jan. 31 before closing out the weekend against the Tigers in Memphis, Tenn. on Sunday, Feb. 1.
