Navy to Face Virginia Saturday in Swimming and Diving Exhibition

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams will open their 2026-27 seasons Saturday when they face Virginia in an 11 a.m. exhibition meet.  There will not be any team scoring in the meet being contested in the school's Aquatic and Fitness Center.

This is the third year in a row in which the teams will be meeting at the start of the season under this format, which features both schools competing in an intrasquad meet (Navy vs. Navy, Virginia vs. Virginia).

The Virginia women's team won the NCAA Championship last spring for the sixth year in a row while the school's men's team finished in ninth place at the national championship.  The Cavaliers are ranked first in the women's College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Preseason Poll and the Virginia men's team is ranked 10th.

Navy will compete in its first countable meets of the season on October 9 (4 p.m.) when it faces LSU and Loyola and then on October 10 (11 a.m.) when it takes on UMBC and William & Mary.  Both of those meets will be contested in Lejeune Hall.
