ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Eight players won at least one match during a pair of victories by the Navy men's tennis team over Bryant, Sunday morning at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.  The Mids (12-8) defeated the Bulldogs (2-5) by the scores of 4-2 and 4-3.

The two matches had different paths to reach nearly the same score.

In the opening match, Bryant won each of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.

Aniketh Ayinala won a 6-0, 6-3 match at No. 2 singles to even the score, then a 6-0, 6-1 win by George Cutone at No. 6 singles gave Navy the lead. Bryant answered with a win at the No. 1 flight to again tie the match.  J.J. Etterbeek made the score 3-2 with a 7-6 (7-1), 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) victory at No. 3 singles, then Jason Kim won a 6-3, 6-3 match at the No. 5 flight to give the Mids the 4-2 win.

In contrast, the doubles point in the second match was not decided until the third and final match was completed.  After a win by Tommy Kim and Jake Young at No. 2 doubles and a victory by the Bulldogs at the No. 3 flight, Lachlan Buckingham and Ethan Garcia combined for a 6-4 win at the No. 1 flight to give the Mids the available point.

Four of the six singles matches would be extended to three sets.  That started with a 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) victory by Young at No. 2 singles to make the score 2-0.  Bryant won a straight-set match at the No. 6 flight, but the Mids answered with a 6-4, 6-0 win by Garcia at No. 4 singles.  A 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory at the No. 3 position by Buckingham made the score 4-1 and secured the second victory of the day for the Mids.

Navy will play host to Long Island and Richmond on Saturday.
