BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams combined to earn 29 All-Patriot League honors following the programs winning both team titles at last week's league championship in Annapolis.
The all-league teams are determined by individual event results and point totals during the league championship. Â Both the first and second teams consist of 18 members, with more added if there are any ties. Â All individual event champions automatically earn first-team recognition, with the remaining first-team positions filled based upon point total. Â All individual event second-place swimmers and divers not already appearing on the first team are then placed onto the second team. Â The second team also is rounded out by the next highest point tallies.
Navy's 29 awards are the most in the league.
Lauren Walsh was the lone member of the Navy women's swimming team to win an event last week as she placed first in both the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke finals. Â She ranked third in the league with 92 individual event points. Â Her 100 breast time of 59.78 broke the meet record (59.93) and qualified her for the NCAA Championship as it was under the required standard of 1:00.30 for conference champions. Â Walsh garnered all-league honors in each of her four seasons, including first-team nods in 2023, '24 and '26.
Also being named to the league's first team was
Corinne Warriner, this year's women's rookie of the year. Â She finished in 16th place with 73 points following her week that featured third-place showings in both breaststroke races and an 11th-place finish in the 200 IM. Â Additionally, Navy team captain
Sarah Eldridge earned her fourth first-team all-league recognition.Â
The Navy men's team received 12 first-team nods. Â
Finn Gelbach was named the league's diver of the year after he won both boards for the second time in his three seasons. Â He previously was honored as the diver of the year following the 2024 championship.
Chase Maier was named the men's rookie of the year as he won the 1650 freestyle, placed third in the 500 free and finished in sixth place in the 200 IM. Â His winning time of 14:54.68 in the 1650 free earned him a spot in the NCAA Championship as it was well under the standard of 15:06.60.
Joining Maier at the national championship will be fellow first-team honorees
Ben Denman-Grimm,
Dean Jones,
Ben Irwin and
Michael Phillips.
Denman-Grimm qualified by winning the 50 free in a time of 19.28 (19.43 was required), Jones advanced in the 500 free with a finals clocking of 4:16.73 (4:18.07) and the 200 fly on his time of 1:41.87 (1:43.79), Irwin will compete in the 100 fly and 200 back with his times of 46.11 (46.11) and 1:40.13 (1:42.14), respectively, and Phillips qualified in the 200 breast on his winning effort of 1:52.82 (1:54.95).
