Baseball Hosts Bonnies in First Home Series of 2026

PL Rookie of the Week Patrick Walsh Enters Weekend with a Nation-Leading Three Triples

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Kicking off an eight-game homestand at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium, the Navy baseball team (5-2) will welcome St. Bonaventure (3-4) for three games this weekend in its first home series of the 2026 season.
 
The Midshipmen and Bonnies open the series with a 3:05 p.m. first pitch on Friday, while Saturday and Sunday's contests are both slated for 1:05 p.m. starts. All three games will be streamed on the Navy Athletics YouTube page, while Friday and Sunday's contests can be heard live on WNAV radio (1430 AM / 99.9 FM). Tim Nolan will handle play-by-play on Friday and Sunday, while Scott Wykoff has Saturday's call.
 
Walsh Named PL Rookie of the Week
Following a sensational stretch at the plate, freshman Patrick Walsh was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday … Walsh was a machine for the Mids last week with a .400 batting average and 1.143 slugging percentage … The rookie went 7-for-14 with three runs scored and five RBI, racking up three doubles and three triples for the week … Playing third base in all four games, Walsh also went 11-for-11 on defensive chances … The infielder has now recorded an extra-base hit in four-straight games.
 
News and Notes
Mason Ceccarelli has a 10-game on-base streak dating back to last season, also reaching base in 29 of his last 30 games played … Andrew Manning's three-hit contest Sunday was the 33rd multi-hit game of his career … Brady Bendik has gone five-or-more innings in 10 of his last 11 outings for the Mids … Owen Phypers is the first Navy freshman to post back-to-back five-inning starts to begin their career since Colin Taeschner in 2019.
 
Back at Bishop
This marks Navy's 104th season playing at the ballpark now known as Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium, with the Mids beginning play at then-Lawrence Field in 1923 … Navy has gone 37-21 at home during head coach Chuck Ristano's three seasons at the helm … The Mids opened their 2026 home slate with a 12-0 win over Delaware State last Tuesday, led by a five-RBI afternoon from Victor Izquierdo and five shutout innings from Tyler Grenn.

Navy pulled out a 2-1 record in last weekend's Support the Troops Weekend at South Carolina … Andrew Manning's first home run of the season sparked a 5-3 win Friday over rival Air Force, backed by Brady Bendik's five shutout frames and Spencer Stephens three-inning save … Despite Patrick Walsh's two-hit day and starter Matt Archibald racking up seven strikeouts, the Mids fell to weekend host South Carolina on Saturday, 8-0 … Navy bounced back Sunday with an 8-1 win over Marshall, as Owen Phypers tossed zeroes across the first five innings and Walsh paced the offense with a three-hit, three-RBI outing.

Navy finished 18-14 in home games last season, batting .273 as a team in Annapolis … Andrew Manning paced the Mids with a .340 home average in 2025, scoring 25 times and driving in 17 more runs in 31 home starts while also adding eight doubles and two homers … Jack Killelea hit .343 in just 22 home games last season, scoring 14 runs … Mason Ceccarelli totaled a .321 average and .542 on-base percentage in 21 home games, making 18 home starts … Tyler Bouchard batted .283 at home last year while also swiping 10 bases in 17 home starts … Spencer Stephens finished with a 2.53 ERA over 13 home outings, striking out 24 in 21.1 innings, while Matt Archibald had a 2.89 home ERA over eight appearances (six starts), punching out 43 in just 28 frames.

Andrew Manning has mashed at the friendly confines of Max Bishop Stadium during his three seasons, posting a .354 career average in home games while racking up 52 runs scored and 33 RBI in 57 contests … Victor Izquierdo has hit .279 with 53 RBI across 58 home starts in his four seasons with the Mids, notching 16 doubles and three homers … Jack Killelea holds a lifetime home average of .347 over 35 games, scoring 25 runs while driving in 13 more.
 
Weekend Warriors
Evan Brown was a force in Friday games last season, hitting .375 with five doubles in nine Friday games, while Andrew Manning batted .344 on Fridays with five RBI and five runs scored in those nine games … Ty DePerno batted .383 on Saturdays last spring, scoring 13 times and driving in 12 more runs in 15 Saturday games … Noah Ditas hit .545 in seven Saturday appearances as a rookie, while Tyler Bouchard had a .474 average in 10 Saturday starts with eight steals and Evan Brown held a .352 average in 15 Saturday contests last spring … Andrew Manning posted a .291 average in 17 Sunday games last season with a pair of homers, while Bouchard batted .286 in eight Sunday games.
 
A LOUD Start
Rookie centerfielder John Loudon started his collegiate career with a bang, posting a four-hit, five-RBI Navy debut in Navy's 12-1 run-rule victory over Queens on Opening Day … Loudon ripped a pair of doubles and a two-run home run in his first college start, also scoring three times as the Navy leadoff hitter … Loudon became the first Navy freshman to record five RBI in a game since Stephen Born drove in five at Delaware State on April 15, 2015 … Loudon's four hits are the most by a Navy true freshman since Zane Raba tallied a four-hit day against Bucknell on March 28, 2021.
 
Navy Among NCAA Stat Leaders
The Mids' .996 fielding percentage this season ranks second in the country heading into the weekend … Navy's pitching has posted a league-leading 3.00 ERA that sits 19th nationally, while the team's 1.19 WHIP also leads the Patriot League and ranks 28th in the nation … The Mids' 0.57 triples per game ranks ninth in the country while Navy's 20 hit-by-pitches as a lineup stands 29th nationally … Patrick Walsh's three triples are tied for the Division I lead, while Henry Mitchell's seven hit-by-pitches rank ninth in the country … Tyler Grenn's 0.58 WHIP is the 32nd-best in the nation entering the weekend.
 
Scouting St. Bonaventure
