Women’s Tennis Returns Home to Face Liberty and the Mount

Navy Looking to Stay Undefeated in Annapolis with 4-0 Home Record

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's tennis team (4-2) returns to the friendly confines of the Tose Family Tennis Center this Saturday, hosting Liberty (3-1) and Mount St. Mary's (0-3) in a doubleheader that kicks off a stretch of eight home contests over Navy's next 10 matches.

Undefeated at home this spring, the Midshipmen will face off with the Flames at 11 a.m., before turning their attention to the Mountaineers for a 2 p.m. meeting.

Scouting the Mids
Leading the team with a 16-4 singles record is freshman Nicole Fu, while junior Olivia Fermo ranks second on the Mids with a 15-5 singles mark … Fermo and Fu have partnered to post a team-leading 12-6 doubles record … Sophomore Grace Li and freshman Anna Wiskowski have gone 4-0 as a doubles pairing so far, while junior Anna Jordaan and sophomore Peyton Amspacher-Philemon have notched a 3-0 doubles mark together … Overall, Fermo has a team-best 13 doubles wins.

Last Time Out
In its first road match of the spring, Navy saw its undefeated start come to an end last Saturday with a 7-0 loss at Notre Dame (4-1) … Despite pushing the Fighting Irish in doubles play action with a win from the No. 2 pairing of Jordaan and Amspacher-Philemon and a battle on the top court, the Mids were upended when UND swept the singles lineup and snapped Navy's four-match winning streak … Ending its stay in the Hoosier State, Navy suffered its second loss of the season Sunday, falling to Ball State, 6-1 … While the Cardinals handled the Mids in doubles play, Navy forced a third set in four different singles matches, with freshman Anna Wiskowski pulling out a comeback victory on the No. 6 court to prevent a shutout.

Scouting Liberty
The Flames started the spring with a win over Western Carolina before falling to No. 4 Auburn on opening weekend, but bounced back the following weekend by shutting out Bellarmine and Delaware … Milana Tsulygina (CUSA Athlete of the Week), along with Yoanna Radulova and Maria Turchetto (CUSA Doubles Pair of the Week), were recognized by Conference USA last week for their efforts in the matches against Bellarmine and UD … Last season saw Liberty go 12-13 overall with a 5-2 CUSA mark, reaching the conference semifinals … Last year also saw Radulova and Daniella O'Neill named to the All-CUSA Singles second team while Anika Lemus was honored on the CUSA All-Freshman Team.

Scouting Mount St. Mary's
The Mountaineers have started the spring slowly, being knocked off by Howard, Bucknell and William & Mary … Entering the spring, Bella Pescatore and Venus Tang held a team-best 6-3 doubles record from fall tournament play, while Pescatore and Eirini Tsakiri each posted three singles wins for the team lead … Last season had Mount St. Mary's end with a 2-19 record and a 1-7 MAAC mark.

Series Histories
Navy is 0-5 in five all-time meetings with Liberty … Last season's matchup in Lynchburg ended with a 6-1 Flames win on Feb. 1, while the last meeting in Annapolis between the two sides ended 4-2 in Liberty's favor on March 1, 2024 … Navy has posted a 5-0 mark over Mount St. Mary's in the all-time series, with all five meetings coming in Annapolis … The last matchup between the Mids and Mountaineers came on Feb. 15, 2020, resulting in a 7-0 Navy victory.

Up Next
Navy will hit the road for a Feb. 14 match at Virginia Tech before coming home Feb. 15 for a doubleheader with Villanova and George Mason.
