Scouting the Opposition
Arizona State fell to Mercer on Sunday by a final score of 20-16 despite being tied at eight going into halftime. It was a third-quarter surge by the Bears that was the difference in the game and kept ASU winless on the road this season in two contests. The season-high three-game win streak was halted, as ASU dropped to 5-4 on the year.
Jordyn Behar was selected as the Big 12 Preseason Attacker of the Year, while Anna Viglione was unanimously selected as Preseason Draw Specialist of the Year.
Senior attacker Teagan Ng brings a 29-game goal-scoring streak into the week. Senior attacker Lydia Oldknow owns a 47-game point-scoring streak dating back to the 2024 season. In 46 of those games, she's scored a goal.
ASU leads the Big 12 in assists per game (9.11), draw controls per game (19), and points per game (24.67). Behar's 34 assists lead the conference, and Ng's 33 goals are the second-best mark in the conference.
National Rankings
After spending two weeks ranked fifth, the Navy women's lacrosse team moved up to #4 in all three national polls – the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Coaches Poll, the Inside Lacrosse KANE Women's Division I Media Poll, and the USA Lacrosse poll. It is the highest ranking ever for the Midshipmen.
Entering the 2026 season, the Midshipmen's highest IWLCA ranking – sixth – came in the final polls of the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Navy finished the 2017 season in fourth in the final ILWomen poll after the Midshipmen's Final Four run.
Prior to claiming the #4 spot in Week 6 of the 2026 season, fifth was the highest in-season ranking in any poll for Navy.
The Midshipmen have been ranked in the top 10 according to the IWLCA 13 times, including the first weekly poll of the season (Feb. 9, 2026), which was the first time in the top 10 since the final poll of the 2018 season (ranked 6th on May 29, 2018).
