Men’s Tennis Team to Play Four Matches this Weekend

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Four matches over the next two days are on the schedule for the Navy men's tennis team as the Mids (13-9) will play host to Georgetown (1-8) Friday at 10 a.m., travel to play at Delaware (7-1) Friday at noon and then face both Brown (9-5) and Norfolk State (2-5) Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Annapolis.

Each of the home matches will be played at either the Tose Family Tennis Center or the adjacent courts as part of the Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium.

Navy
The Mids split a home doubleheader last week as they defeated Long Island by the score of 6-1 and lost a 6-1 match to Richmond.

Four of Navy's losses this year have been to teams which appear in this week's national rankings.  The Mids dropped two matches (7-0, 6-1) to No. 37 Penn, a 4-3 decision to No. 74 Drexel and a 7-0 match to No. 75 Monmouth.

Georgetown
The Hoyas have played a challenging schedule to date as their losses include defeats to VCU, Old Dominion, Bucknell, Penn State, NJIT, Princeton, Delaware and William & Mary.

Georgetown posted a 9-13 record a year ago and compiled a 3-4 record in Big East play.  The fourth-seeded Hoyas lost in the semifinal round of the conference tournament.

The teams first met in the spring of 1911 and Navy holds a 77-13-1 advantage in the series.  The Hoyas won a 5-2 match last year, which came on the heels of the Mids winning by the score of 4-3 in 2024 and losing by that same score in 2023.

Delaware
The Blue Hens have posted wins this year over Villanova, Bucknell, Fairleigh Dickinson and Loyola, with their one loss coming to Penn.

Delaware finished last season with an overall record of 14-9, which included a 3-0 record against Coastal Athletic Association foes.  The Blue Hens were seeded fourth at the conference tournament and lost in the semifinals.

Navy leads the series with Delaware 14-3, but the Blue Hens have defeated the Mids in each of the last three seasons.

Brown
The Bears enter the weekend after having recorded wins this year over Boston College, Richmond, Holy Cross and Boston University, with losses coming to Columbia, Yale, Dartmouth and William & Mary.

Brown put together an overall record of 18-12 a year ago and lost all seven of its Ivy League matches.

The first match between the Mids and the Bears was back in 1950.  Navy leads the all-time series 28-19.  Last year's match, a 6-1 victory by Brown, was the first between the teams in 18 seasons.

Norfolk State
The Spartans have dropped matches this year to William & Mary, New Orleans and Old Dominion and picked up wins over Xavier (La.) and Hampton.

Norfolk State posted a 13-12 in 2025, which included a 3-2 record against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents. The third-seeded Spartans lost in the semifinal round of the MEAC Tournament.

The teams have split 4-3 matches over the last two seasons with Norfolk State winning by that score in 2025 and Navy winning in 2024.  The Mids hold a slim 4-2 lead in the young series.
