Yovino Added to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

Ava Yovino was one of 12 first-round additions to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Tewaaraton Award announced first-round additions to its men's and women's watch lists and Navy senior midfielder Ava Yovino was added to the list. The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse.

Yovino joins teammates Alyssa Chung and Mikayla Williams who were named to the initial watch list on Feb. 10.

This is the third time that Yovino has appeared on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She earned a spot on the team as a freshman in 2023, while she was on the initial watch list prior to the 2024 season.

Through five games, Yovino has recorded 23 total points on 10 goals and a team-high 13 assists. Additionally, the senior midfielder has won 18 draw controls, picked up 12 ground balls, and caused six turnovers. She has been named IWLCA Division I National Offensive Player of the Week twice this season (Feb. 10; March 3), following Navy's top-10 victories over #10 Virginia (W, 12-10) and #7 Florida (W, 14-11). Also, Yovino has earned Patriot League Midfielder of the Week two times (Feb. 9; March 2).

Founded in 2001, The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

Players not named to this list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. One final list of additions will be announced on March 26, before the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees on April 16. Nominees can be players from the Watch Lists or not from the Watch Lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.

Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season. The Finalists will be honored and this year's recipients announced live on May 28 at the Tewaaraton Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
