AJ Marsh Garners First-Team All-Patriot League Recognition

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —  Navy junior defenseman AJ Marsh (Reisterstown, Md.) has been named to the 16-player All-Patriot League Men's Lacrosse First Team it was announced by the league office on Monday.  This is the third-consecutive year Marsh has garnered All-Patriot League honors, picking up second-team recognition his freshman year as a long-stick midfielder, while being named to the first team in each of the last two years as a close defenseman.

Marsh is now the 15th player in school history to earn All-Patriot League recognition at least three times and the first since Jackson Bonitz closed out his career as a four-time selection from 2021-24.

Thirty-three student-athletes were named to the two All-Patriot League Teams, with 16 earning first-team honors and 17 securing a spot on the second team.

Members of the top-seeded Army Black Knights were awarded the Offensive (Evan Plunkett / Sr / M), Defensive (John Sullivan / Sr / D) Goalkeeper (Sean Byrne / Sr) of the year awards, while Boston University sophomore Madden Murphy was named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year and Lehigh's Finn Morgan was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year. Loyola head coach Charley Toomey and his staff were selected as the William Lawson Coaching Staff of the Year.

Arguably one of the top defensemen in the country, Marsh was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for a second-consecutive year to open the 2026 campaign. The three-year starter served as the veteran member of the defensive unit this season that allowed 12.57 goals per game and held three teams - Iona, Jacksonville and Lafayette - to single digits. He spearheaded a defensive effort that tamed the nation's eighth-ranked scoring offense (Jacksonville / 14.33 GPG) and held the Dolphins to single digits for the first time since 2025. Marsh played a pivotal role in Navy holding #11 Penn State to its fewest goals (11) since since its NCAA Tournament loss to Georgetown last spring and well under its 14.67 scoring average going into the game against the Mids. Specifically, Marsh held reigning Big Ten Rookie of the Year and All-American Hunter Aquino to an extra-man goal, an assist and forced him into a pair of turnovers in the overtime win by the Mids.

Marsh continued to be a menace for opposing teams in the transition game, as he closed out the season with 10 points on 5 goals and 5 assists. Along the way, he put together a 7-game point-scoring streak that began with the Mids' Patriot League opener on Feb. 28 against Boston U. and ran through the April 4 win over Holy Cross. With 24-career points (12G, 12A), Marsh became the Mids' all-time leader in points scored by a pole (D/LSM), pushing past Matt Rees who accumulated 19 points (15G, 4A) from 2014-17. Marsh's 12 goals to date are the third most by a Navy pole, while Pat Kiernan (2011-14) is second with 13 and Rees holds the record with 15.

Marsh, who missed the final two games of the season due to injury, was second on the team in caused turnovers with 12 and will head into his senior campaign tied for 11th on Navy's all-time caused turnovers list with 32.
