Army-Navy Rematch Set for Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship

The opening draw for the championship game is set for 3:30 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The #8 / #6 and top-seeded Navy women's lacrosse team (17-1) will look to repeat as Patriot League Tournament Champions as the Midshipmen host #13 / #13 and second-seeded Army (14-3) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in the championship game of the 2026 Patriot League Tournament on Saturday.
 
The game will air on CBS Sports Network, with coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. Jason Knapp will call play-by-play with Rachael DeCecco providing analysis. Paige Messier will report from the sideline.
 
The game will be aired live on the radio on 1430 AM WNAV with Joe Miller on the call. The radio broadcast is also available on wnav.com and on WNAV on the Audacy app.

Patriot League Tournament
Navy, who is making its 18th appearance in the Patriot League Tournament, advanced to the championship game for the 14th time with an 18-8 victory over Bucknell in the semifinals. The Mids improved to 14-3 (.824) all-time in the PL semifinals, winning nine of their last 10 appearances in the semis.
 
With the win, the Midshipmen improved to 25-10 (.714) overall in the tournament with a 9-0 (1.000) mark all-time in the conference tournament at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Midshipmen are hosting the Patriot League Championship Tournament for the third time in program history (2012, '13, '26) and the first time since 2013.
 
The Mids are 7-6 (.538) all-time in the Patriot League Championship Game, claiming the conference title in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, and 2025.
 
Army advanced to the Patriot League Championship Game for the second time in program history, knocking off third-seeded Loyola to end the Greyhounds' run of 11 consecutive conference championship appearances.
 
The Midshipmen and Black Knights shared the Patriot League regular-season championship with Navy earning the top seed and hosting duties by virtue of its head-to-head victory (W, 14-8) over Army in the annual Star Game earlier this season.
 
All-Time Series
The game between the Midshipmen and Black Knights marks the 15th meeting between the two teams. Navy holds a 10-4 (.714) overall record against Army, including a 4-1 (.800) mark in Annapolis.
 
The game will mark the sixth time the two teams will meet as ranked opponents and it will be the second time that both teams enter the game in the top 15 in the national polls. The two teams were both ranked in the top 15 earlier this season as #8 Navy posted a 14-8 victory over #14 Army at home in the Star Game.
 
Navy opened the all-time series with six straight victories, including claiming the first three Star Games (2018, '19, '21). Army had won three of four meetings, including back-to-back Star competitions (2022, '23), prior to the Midshipmen's 17-11 victory in 2024. Last season, the Black Knights claimed a 17-12 win in West Point to earn the 2025 Star, but the Midshipmen posted an 18-9 win against Army in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals to advance to the conference championship. The Mids notched a 14-8 Star win earlier this season at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
 
The all-time series began in 2016 with the Midshipmen claiming an 11-5 win in West Point. The following year, Navy posted a 22-7 victory in Annapolis.
 
The first Star Game came in 2018 with the Mids recording a 20-7 win over the Black Knights in West Point. The following year, Navy earned a Star victory at home with a 21-8 win at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Later in 2019, the two teams met again in the Patriot League Tournament with Navy notching a 20-10 win in the semifinals to advance to the conference title game.
 
In 2021, Navy had a three-week ROM (restriction of movement) due to the COVID-19 pandemic with no games or practice prior to taking on Army. Despite a slow start, the Mids rallied for the final three goals of the game to post a 13-12 victory in West Point.
 
Army claimed its first Star in the series in 2022, posting a 14-9 win over Navy in Annapolis. The Midshipmen were able to avenge the loss with a 16-6 win later that season in the Patriot League Tournament in Baltimore.
 
The two teams met twice during the 2023 season with the Black Knights winning each contest. Army earned a 15-11 Star win in West Point. The two teams once again met in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. Navy was edged 12-11 in double overtime to Army. The game was the first overtime contest between the two teams and it was the second multi-overtime game in Patriot League Tournament history.
 
Behind a total team effort, the Midshipmen defeated the Black Knights, 17-11, in Annapolis in the 2024 Star Game. The Mids used timely scoring, solid defense, and domination in the draw circle to earn their first Star since 2021.
 
In 2025, Army used a 7-0 run to open the game and ultimately posted a 17-12 victory over Navy in West Point in the annual Star Game. Less than a month later, the two teams met one another in the Patriot League Tournament with the Midshipmen posting an 18-9 victory over the Black Knights to advance to the conference title game.
 
Trailing 3-1 after one quarter, Navy outscored Army, 7-0, in the second quarter to take a lead it would not relinquish en route to a 14-8 victory over the Black Knights in the 2026 Star Game in Annapolis.
 
Scouting the Midshipmen
The Navy women's lacrosse team enters the championship game 17-1 overall.
 
As a team, the Midshipmen have tallied 289 goals with 143 assists, while picking up 325 ground balls, winning 269 draw controls, and causing 164 turnovers. Additionally, Navy has held twelve (12) opponents this season to single digits.
 
Alyssa Chung, Taylor Miles, Emma Kennedy, Mikayla Williams, and Ava Yovino lead the team with 40 or more points apiece.
 
Chung paces the team with 97 points on a team-high 67 goals with at team-best 30 assists to her credit. The sophomore is three points shy of becoming the sixth player in program history to record 100 or more points in a season, joining Jenna Collins (2017, '18), Julia Collins (2018), Jasmine DePompeo (2013), Kelly Larkin (2017, '18, '19), and Erin Rawlick (2010).
 
Miles follows with 61 points on 42 goals and 19 assists. The sophomore enters the championship game four points shy of 100 for her career. In two seasons, Miles has 59 goals and 37 assists for 96 career points.
 
Kennedy and Williams both have over 50 points. Kennedy has 54 points on 47 goals and seven assists, while, Williams has 33 scores and 18 helpers for 51 points on the season. Yovino rounds out the Midshipmen's top five with 48 points on 19 goals and 29 assists.
 
Maggie DeFabio, Anna Gotterup, Bella Paradiso, Chloe Brown, and Kat McAteer close out the Mids double-digit point scorers. DeFabio, who recorded her 100th career goal in the Patriot League Semifinal against Bucknell, has 30 points on 21 goals and nine assists. Gotterup follows with 20 points on a balanced 10 goals and 10 assists, while Paradiso is two points back with 18 thanks to 15 goals and three assists. Brown has 15 points on 11 goals and four assists, while McAteer has a balanced five goals and six assists for 11 points to close out the double-digit point scorers.
 
Defensively, the Midshipmen have held their opponents to 7.67 goals per game. The Navy defense has held twelve (12) opponents – Villanova (5 goals), High Point (6 goals), South Florida (8 goals), Bucknell (6 goals), Holy Cross (3 goals), Lehigh (6 goals), Boston University (5 goals), #14 Army (8 goals), Lafayette (1 goal), Colgate (7 goals), American (5 goals), and Bucknell (8 goals – Patriot League Semifinal) – to single-digit goals.
 
The Mids have caused 164 of their opponents' 284 turnovers (57.7 percent). Yovino leads the team with 22 caused turnovers, while Chung follows with 20. Jaclyn Johns and Felicia Giglio add 17 and 15, respectively, while Caroline Gage, Tiana Griffin, DeFabio, and Miles close out the Mids double-digit takeaways 10 apiece.
 
Giglio leads the team with 45 ground balls with Yovino following with 36 ground ball pickups. DeFabio adds 29 with Chung and Johns picking up 27 ground balls apiece. Landen Cain and Gage both have 20 GB, while Kennedy (17), Jalin Jenkins (16), Williams (15), Lily Schmalz (12), and Miles (10) close out Navy's double-digit ground balls.
 
Giglio has played and started each game for Navy in the cage, working 1009:33 minutes of action between the posts. The junior goalie has 118 of the Mids' 127 saves on the year with a 7.67 goals against average and 47.8 save percentage.
 
The junior is 17-1 on the season and 47-10 in her career. She is one win shy of tying Ingrid Boyum for most wins in a season with 18, originally set turning Navy's historic Final Four run of 2017. Additionally, Giglio is one victory behind Boyum for the most wins by a goalie in program history with 48.
 
In the circle, Maura Murphy boasts a team-high 136 draw wins. The senior notched her first double-digit draw performance against High Point (14), while adding 11 draw wins against Lehigh, 12 at Lafayette, and 13 at Colgate. In the Patriot League Semifinal against Bucknell, Murphy registered a new career high, winning 15 of Navy's 20 draws in the game. Yovino follows with 57 draws, while Williams (22) Kennedy (20), and Chung (13) round out the Mids' double-digit draws.
 
Scouting the Opposition
Army enters the weekend with a 14-3 overall record. The Black Knights have won four straight games since dropping a 14-8 decision to the Midshipmen in the annual Star Game on April 11.
 
West Point is led by Allison Reilly and Brigid Duffy who boast 115 and 90 points, respectively. Duffy leads the team with 63 goals to go along with 27 of assists for 90 points, while Reilly has 47 goals and a team-best 68 assists for the team-leading 115 points. Lily Valentini (47g 11a), Chloe Garrett (18g 17a), and Ryan Remaly (24g 4a) round out Army's top-five-point scorers with 58, 35, and 28 points, in order.
 
Duffy leads the team with 48 ground balls and 45 caused turnovers, while ranking second on the team with 67 draw controls. Sarah Chernik leads the team with 90 draws with Ellie Nawa adding 55 draw wins.
 
Lindsey Serafine has played and started all 17 games for the Black Knights this season. She has recorded 121 saves with 153 goals allowed in 975:39 minutes of work for a 44.2 save percentage and a 9.41 goals against average.
