Cashman Named 2026 Water Polo Team Captain

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy water polo head coach Luis Nicolao officially announced that Connor Cashman will be the team captain for the 2026 campaign.

"I am extremely honored to be serving my team as captain this upcoming year," Cashman stated. "We have such a special group of guys and I am blessed to be able to share the pool with them every day. From the commitment, grit, and accountability I've seen this offseason, I know that this upcoming season is going to be special."

Cashman is a two-time letterwinner who has played in 63 games with 44 goals and 29 assists for 73 total points, while adding 23 steals and 23 ejections drawn. Last season, the Annapolis native tallied 38 points on 25 goals and 13 assists, recording six of his seven career hat tricks during his junior season.

"A great captain is the bridge between the coaching staff and the locker room, and Connor has earned the trust of everyone in this program," Nicolao said of his captain. "He has worked really hard coming back from two hip surgeries to get to where he is now. He put in a lot of hard work and dedication to get to where he is today. I am really proud and happy for him."

The Midshipmen open the 2026 season at home with the annual Navy Open in Lejeune Hall on Friday through Sunday, Sept. 4-6. The Mids start the year against Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference foe Mount St. Mary's, while also competing during the weekend against Johns Hopkins, Salem, and Austin College.
