Racing in one of the most competitive offshore races held in the United States and competing against 85 other boats in the St David's Lighthouse Division, the Navy offshore sailing team's rising senior skipper

Invincible, after four days at sea, sailed to a 3rd place finish in their sub-division and 10th overall. Within
Invincible's sub-
division, Aaby and crew were bested only by Dorade, a previous overall winner, and Carina, a five time overall winner of the race. The 54th Biennial 636-mile Newport to Bermuda Race saw a total of 144 boats competing across all divisions, ranging from 38 feet to the 100 footer, Black Jack 100.
Racing with Aaby on board Invincible, one of the Academy's Navy 44s, were seniors Logan Hayes and Nico Martinez, juniors Will Greene and Michael Grube, as well as sophomores Rilee McWeeney, Casey Olson, and Luke Villareal.
Invincible received the Sir Thomas Lipton Memorial Trophy for their 3rd place finish. With the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Merchant Marine Academies also racing, Invincible received the Destroyers Atlantic Trophy as top service academy boat as well. Wahoo, skippered by senior Aden Newman, received the Battle of the Atlantic Trophy as the 3rd place service academy boat.
The offshore team's summer continues with the team's Swan 45, Poseidon, skippered by Martinez, heading to New England for competitions in Buzzards Bay, MA and Newport, RI, as well as the Around Long Island Race, before returning to the Chesapeake Bay for the Governor's Cup Race.
