ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's soccer team begins its 34th season of collegiate competition this week with a pair of home non-conference matchups at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. First up for
Carin Gabarra's club is a rematch from last year's season opener as Navy welcomes Robert Morris on Wednesday to complete their home-and-home series. The Mids are coming off a 9-6-4 2025 campaign, while the Colonials went 4-9-4 last fall. Three days after kicking off the season, Navy will go head-to-head with Rice on Saturday night in a rematch from August 2024. The Owls posted a successful 10-4-6 record in 2025.
Kick-off on Wednesday is set for 5 p.m., while Saturday night's contest has a 7 p.m. first touch.
All of the women's soccer action this week will have live stats provided online, as well as ESPN+ broadcasts. ESPN+ is a subscription-based streaming service that requires patrons to sign-up for monthly or yearly plans prior to tuning into the contest.

Navy and Rice have only met on the pitch once as part of the Mids' season-opening trip to Texas in 2024 ... In that matchup on Aug. 18, the Owls defended their home turf with a 2-1 decision ... A three-point performance from
Chiara Cosenza sparked a dominant showing by the Navy women's soccer team in its 2025 season opener Thursday evening, as the Mids scored a 3-0 shutout victory over Robert Morris at the North Athletic Complex in Moon Township, Pa.
Netting three goals over the opening 45 minutes of play, Navy used 21 players overall to propel itself to its fourth season-opening victory in five years, with seven freshmen making their collegiate debuts.
Goal scorers for the Mids included
Marlee Heaven from Cosenza in the 15th minute, Cosenza unassisted in the 16th minute and
Ali Barrow from
Sona Gonzales and
Emily Clay in the 42nd minute.
Natasha Stramrood (three saves in 75 minutes) and
Talley Applewhite (15 minutes) combined for the shutout in goal.
As a team, Navy out-shot Robert Morris, 11-7 with 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.

The Navy women's soccer team wrapped up its two-game road trip to Texas with a 2-1 loss at Rice on Sunday afternoon. Dealing with stifling temperatures that made it feel like 106 and seven graduate or seniors in the Owls' starting lineup, the Mids found themselves in a back-and-forth battle at Holloway Field that saw Rice go up 1-0 in the 25th minute before Navy fired back less than three minutes with a game-tying tally by
Hannah Mulholland. A transition goal in the 71st minute by the Owls stood up as the game-winner.
Mulholland found the back of the net in the 28th minute as after a slight deflection off a Rice defender she secured the ball and ripped a shot in the lower left corner past the Owls' goalkeeper at 27:26.
For the game, Rice out-shot Navy, 21-12 with a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal. The host Owls also recorded 11 of the game's 15 total corner kicks.
In goal,
Natasha Stramrood turned aside a career-high seven shots on goal, while
Talley Applewhite made five saves in the first half.
