PHOENIX, Ariz. - Coming off an All-American result at the year-end NCAA Championship this past April, rising senior Brian Solomon of the Navy men's gymnastics team was back in action on the biggest stage with competition at the 2026 U.S. Gymnastics Championship. The national championship for all American gymnasts from youth, club, collegiate and Olympic-level programs, the multi-day event kicked off on Thursday night with qualifying action at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Following six rotations of all-around competition, Solomon ended up 17th in the standings and received a qualifying berth into Saturday's finals.

"I'm very pleased with how he performed," remarked assistant coach Ryan Terrill, who is with Solomon at the championship. "This was a huge stage for Brian and he did a good job of shaking off the nerves and getting into the groove of the competition. He carried himself well throughout the meet, event after event. It was an exciting night of gymnastics all around in a ridiculous field of gymnasts throwing out incredibly difficult skills and routines. We're glad that Brian advanced to the second day of competition and look to improve on little details and go six-for-six on his routines on Saturday."

Solomon's first night of the competition began on the vault where he earned a score of 13.2. His evening of action was highlighted on the next apparatus as he hit his parallel bars set with a clean 9.0 execution score of his 4.3-level routine for a cumulative score of 13.3. Solomon continued racking up points as he posted a 12.3 on the high bar and a 12.6 on the floor exercise. His highest individual placement came on the pommel horse as he ranked 19th in the field of 44 with a 12.5 result. Competing for over two-plus hours, time was not on Solomon's side in his final routine as a few arm bends during his rings performance resulted in a tough dismount for his only significant miss of his all-around contest; he netted 11.9 points on the rings. Overall, Solomon scored 75.8 points to rank 17th overall. He's surrounded in the leaderboard by EVO Gym's Michael Jaroh (16th, 75.95) and Stanford's Xander Hong (18th, 75.20).

Next up for Solomon is the day two of the championships on Saturday. First touch is set for 7:30 PM ET (4:30 PM-local) with action broadcast live on NBC Sports Network and Peacock.
