Men’s Soccer Closes Homestand with Temple Under the Lights Saturday

Navy to Face Temple for First Time Since 2009 Overtime Victory Over Owls

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Wrapping up a three-game homestand, the Navy men's soccer team (1-2-1) is set to host Temple (0-3-1) in an 8:05 p.m. contest on Saturday evening at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
 
Coming off their first victory of the season Monday, the Midshipmen will look to start a winning streak against an Owls program that is searching for their first win of the campaign. Ben Robertson will have the call on ESPN+, as Navy and Temple renew an all-time series that has been on hold since 2009.
 
Parking / Shuttle / Ticket Information (UPDATED)
Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans may park at the Naval Clinic (695 Kinkaid Rd, Annapolis, MD 21402) and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting one hour before the game and will continue running until one hour after the game is completed. Fans 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID. Dogs are not permitted inside the Glenn Warner Soccer Complex. All soccer contests at Glenn Warner will be free of charge.

Saturday's match with Temple is scheduled to have $2.00 drinks at the concession stand.
 
No Place Like Home
The Mids have posted an impressive 22-13-17 mark at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility since the start of the 2021 season … Navy has outscored opponents, 73-49, in those 52 games … Navy was 3-3-6 at home last season, outscoring opponents by a 15-14 edge at GWSF in those 12 games.

Marking the first victory for head coach John Hackworth with the Midshipmen, a pair of second-half goals helped Navy pull away for a 3-0 victory over Presbyterian on Monday afternoon at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility … En route to notching Hackworth's first win at Navy, the Mids got a late penalty-kick conversion from rookie Will Smith to close the first half while Alex Galloway and Cohen Nance added insurance in the final 45 minutes to bury the Blue Hose … Monday also saw goalkeeper Sam Clark pick up his first collegiate shutout, registering two saves in the clean sheet … Ryan Skandalis also made his first collegiate start, logging 86 minutes of action.
 
Navy Notes
Nick Gallucci paces the Patriot League with his three assists on the season, while Cohen Nance's two goals ties him for the league lead in scoring … Sam Clark's 0.91 goals against average is also the best among league goalkeepers … Duncan Sullivan sits third in the Patriot League with 10 shots and four shots on goal … Navy is 3-0-1 when Sullivan records a point, while the Mids are 2-1-3 when Gallucci tallies a point.
 
Scouting the Opponent
Temple opened the season with back-to-back 1-0 losses at Villanova and Delaware before posting a 1-1 draw at crosstown foe Saint Joseph's, while this past Tuesday saw the Owls fall, 4-0, at Saint Peter's … Gavin Atkinson has been the mainstay in net, making 19 saves over his four starts and tallying a .731 save percentage … Carlos Rojas has the Owls' lone goal this year, while Lukas Stefaner has one assist … There are 14 newcomers for the Owls in 2026, with five freshmen joining Temple.
 
Series History
Navy is 2-1-1 in the all-time series with Temple, including a 1-0-1 record at home against the Owls … The teams' last meeting came on Sept. 18, 2009, as Eric Wootten scored four minutes into overtime to complete the Mids' 3-2 comeback victory over the Owls in Philadelphia … The Owls' last trip to Annapolis saw Navy and Temple play to a 0-0 draw at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility on Aug. 31, 2007.
