Naval Academy Athletics

2020 (Senior): Played in Navy’s lone game against Army during the season, which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
2019 (Junior): Played in seven of eight games during the season … Made a pair of receptions for 19 total yards and a touchdown, while also registering six total tackles (2 solo) with a fumble recovery for a touchdown … Hauled in a 12-yard touchdown pass against Alderson Broaddus … Also picked up a fumble against the Battlers and returned it 25 yards to the checkerboard end zone for a score … Caught a seven-yard pass against Cornell … Had a season-high two tackles against Chestnut Hill and Alderson Broaddus, while also making tackles against Army West Point (2x).
 
2018 (Sophomore): Played in a pair of games during first season with the sprint football team … Made collegiate debut against Mansfield, while also seeing playing time against Caldwell.
 
High School / Personal: Lettered in swimming (4 years), cross country (3), and soccer (3) at Grassfield High School … Helped lead soccer team to the Regional Championship, while leading cross country and swimming teams to the City Championship … Class president … Son of John and Renee Newell … Great grandfather, Byron (’32), and grandfather, John (’58), are graduates of the Naval Academy.
