• At Navy: Has played in 19-career games ... missed the spring after having surgery during the season ... enters the fall third on the depth chart at wide receiver ... has earned 2 varsity letters.

•    2023: Played in 9 games where he caught 3 passes for 71 yards (23.7 yds/catch, 7.9 yds/gm) and scored 2 touchdowns ... caught 1 pass for a gain of 10 yards in the Mids’ victory on Senior Day against East Carolina ... caught his second-career pass for a 45-yard touchdown in the Mids’ win over UAB ... it was the longest reception of his career ... caught his first-collegiate pass for a 16-yard touchdown (also his first-career TD) in the AAC opener at Memphis.

•    2022: Appeared in each of the first 8 contests as a member of special teams.

•    2021: Appeared in 2 games, including making his collegiate debut against Marshall in the opener.

• High School / Personal: A 2020 graduate of Brophy College Preparatory School in Phoenix, Ariz., Velez attended Northern Arizona University during the 2020-21 academic year ...  led Brophy Prep to the 2019 Arizona 6A State playoffs ... two-time (2018,’ 19) Sports360AZ All-Academic Team ... tore his ACL in the season opener of his senior year of high school ... attended Northern Arizona on an academic scholarship where he walked on to the football team ... a special teams member, he made his lone appearance against Idaho ... recipient of the Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete Award in 2021 ... brother, Ryan, is a 2020 graduate of Army, where he was a four-year member of the football team ... brother, Ross, graduated from the Naval Academy in the Class of 2023 ... son of Roger and Evangeline Velez ... majoring in mathematics with economics.
