Biography

Norris in 2012 (Jr.): Joined Jay Mann and freshman Alex Heyward as short stick defensive midfielders in 2012 ... registered seven takeaways this spring ... Navy boasted the nation[apos]s 14th-best scoring defense, surrendering 8.92 goals per game ... part of a spectacular defensive effort in which Navy stymied No. 6 Johns Hopkins for the first 25-plus minutes (25:31) of the game and again for better than 31 minutes (31:45) between the second and fourth quarters to hold Hopkins to its fewest goals in a game since April 2, 1966, when Princeton dealt it a 7-1 loss ... additionally, the two goals marked the fewest in series history by the Blue Jays since May 9, 1925, when the Mids earned an 8-1 win in Annapolis ... part of a unit that held Colgate, the nation[apos]s No. 2 scoring offense, to under its scoring average ... 11 goals marked the fewest goals scored by Colgate since losing to Dartmouth, 9-6, on Feb. 25 ... the Mids also held the Raiders scoreless 18:15 between the first and second quarters, building a 5-1 lead, and for 12:15 in the fourth quarter ... turned in a career-high tying three ground balls and caused one turnover against Holy Cross ... grabbed a career-high tying three grounders and caused a turnover in the Mids[apos] loss against Jacksonville ... picked up a career-high three ground balls in the Mids[apos] opener against VMI, while also causing a career-best four turnovers ... a member of Navy[apos]s second midfield line in 2011, he scored his second-collegiate goal and first of the season in Navy[apos]s 9-8 loss at Loyola ... saw action in four games as a freshman, primarily as a rider ... in a vote by his teammates following fall ball, he was selected to wear jersey No. 40 in honor of fallen Navy SEAL and former Navy lacrosse player Lt. Brendan Looney, who was killed in Afghanistan on Sept. 21, 2010.

2011 (So.): Made appearances in nine contests playing with the second midfield line ... fed senior middie Kevin Doyle on the Mids[apos] game-opening goal against Colgate ... it marked his first-career assist ... scored his second-collegiate goal and first of the season in Navy[apos]s 9-8 loss at Loyola ... picked up his first-collegiate ground ball in the Mids[apos] win over Lafayette.

2010 (Fr.): Saw limited action in four games, primarily as a rider ... scored his first-collegiate goal in what was his first appearance in a Navy game ... punched in a goal against VMI in the season-opener ... also competed against North Carolina, Holy Cross and Georgetown.

More on Norris: A 2008 graduate of Honeoye Falls-Lima High School, Norris attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2008-09 academic year ... a four-year lacrosse letterwinner, he was named the Monroe County Player of the Year in 2008 ... two-time first-team all-county selection (2006-07), who was twice named team captain (2007-08) ... named to the 2007 All-Greater Rochester Team ... along with former Navy teammate RJ Wickham, was a member of the 2006 silver medal winning team at the Empire State Games and won the bronze medal in 2007 ... played 10 years of tier 1AAA hockey ... his Rochester youth team played in the 2003-04 state finals ... father played football at Lock Haven ... son of Rodney and Janice Norris ... majoring in Oceanography ... his service assignment is Special Warfare.
