High School:
• Attended San Gorgonio High School, where he lettered in football (three), wrestling (one), basketball (one) and track (one)
• Named First-Team All-CIF on defense with football during his senior season
• Served as the football team captain as a senior
• Helped the football team to a San Andreas League title with a perfect 9-0 record in 2003
• Member of the National Honor Society
Personal:
• Son of Stephanie Byrd and the late Yoel Cross
• Prior to his arrival in Annapolis, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for nearly three years, attaining the rank of Corporal (E-4)
• Received the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, as well as decorations for his efforts in the Global War on Terror and National Defense
