Navy Finishes Eighth at the NCAA Rifle Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio (March 10) - Navy finished eighth at the NCAA Rifle Championship in Columbus, Ohio. The Mids finished in seventh in the smallbore with a score of 4,567 points and did not qualify for the air rifle, which allowed Tennessee Tech to pass them in the overall standings for seventh place. David Bachta was Navy's top shooter with a 1,149, while George Adams shot a 1,144, William Tolson an 1.139 and Scott Cohick a 1,135.
Alaska-Fairbanks defended its title in winning its third consecutive championship and fourth title overall with an aggregate team score of 6,283. The Nanooks had a 4,710 mark in smallbore and 1,573 in air rifle, finishing first in both categories. Kentucky finished second overall at 6,175 and West Virginia was third at 6,174.
