NORFOLK, Va. - Navy starting pitcher Matt Foster (Jr./Ventura, Calif.) took a no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Mids were unable to close the door on Old Dominion, as the Monarchs pushed across three runs with two out en route to a 7-0 victory. The win gave ODU a three-game sweep, winning the first-two games Saturday, 5-4 and 5-3.

Navy (1-5) cruised through the first-five innings led by Foster's strong outing on the mound, but could not get on track offensively. In the third, fourth and fifth innings, the Mids put runners in scoring position, twice with one out, but untimely hitting left six runners stranded.

With one out in the bottom of the sixth, a wild pitch and two Navy errors gave ODU a 1-0 lead followed by Ryan Harvey's RBI-double that pushed the Monarchs' lead to two. Two-straight wild pitches by Navy relief pitcher Andy Froistad (So./St. Paul, Minn.) scored Harvey to give ODU a 3-0 advantage.

ODU (3-1) pushed another run across in the bottom of the seventh when Jared Musolf scored on Allen Strick's RBI-single.

Aided by three more Navy errors, the Monarchs scored three unearned runs off Navy reliever Bryan Koehler (Lutz, Fla.) in the bottom of the eighth, giving ODU a 7-0 lead and the win.

Navy's Foster dropped to 0-1, allowing just one hit and three runs, all of which were unearned, while ODU freshman hurler Justin Verlander worked all nine innings, striking out nine batters to improve to 1-1.

Navy returns to action Friday at 11 a.m. (EST) when the Mids face Villanova in the opening game of the Service Academy Spring Classic in Millington, Tenn. Immediately following the Villanova game, Navy will take on Air Force at approximately 2 p.m.
