Randall Leslie rushed for a 60-yard touchdown against Penn.

Philadelphia, Pa. ? Navy sprint football (6-0, 3-0 CSFL) defeated Pennsylvania (2-3, 1-2 CSFL), 31-0, tonight at Franklin Field as the Mids handed the Quakers their first home loss of the season. This is the second time this season that Navy has shutout its opponent (the Mids blanked Army, 14-0, on Oct. 5), and it is the first time this year that the Quakers were held scoreless in a game.

The Mids struck first as junior Eric Shuey (Hacienda Heights, Calig,/Wilson) connected on a 38-yard field goal attempt with 9:49 to go in the first quarter. Penn then missed a 31-yard field goal attempt to start the second quarter.

Senior Jamie Glines (Modesto, Calif./Central Catholic) ran in a nine-yard touchdown to put the Mids up 10-0 with 3:06 left in the half, but the Mids were not done yet.

Navy took over with just under two minutes to go in the first half, and after Penn was called for pass interference, senior Chris Ashinhurst (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) found Joel Gow (Riverview, Fla./Providence Christian) with a 29-yard bomb to move the Mids into Quaker territory. Randall Leslie (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley) rushed for another 14 yards to put Navy in the red zone. An eight-yard run by Ashinhurst and a nine-yard rush by Glines put the Mids on the two-yard line, setting up sophomore Trevor Garabedian-Prophet (Ventura, Calif./Ventura), who took the ball into the endzone for a 17-0 lead with 36 seconds left in the half.

Navy opened the second half with another score, as Leslie rushed for a 60-yard touchdown to put the Mids up 24-0. On the Mids' second drive of the third quarter, Navy took over on its own 10-yard line after Penn turned the ball over on downs. The Mids charged 90 yards up the field to take a 31-0 margin as Glines added his second touchdown of the night.

With five minutes remaining in the game, Navy stuffed Penn on their own three-yard line to hold the Quakers scoreless and secure the 31-0 victory.

Navy will close out the season next Friday in West Point, N.Y., as the Mids challenge Army for the Collegiate Sprint Football League championship at 7 p.m.
