Annapolis, Md. -- Newark, N.J. - Navy (3-0) shutout Army (1-1), 14-0, today in the 25th Pride Bowl at Riverfront Stadium in Newark, N.J. In front of a crowd of 5,100, the Mids took their fourth-straight win over the Black Knights and extended their overall win-streak to 14 games.

?We moved the ball well today,? commented head coach Maj. Jerome Rizzo, USMC. ?I was really proud of our team and the effort they showed.?

Maj. Rizzo became the first sprint football coach in Navy history to hold a 3-0 record over Army and is one of only three sprint coaches to own at least three wins over the Black Knights.

Although the game was tied at 0-0 for the first 24 minutes, Navy controlled the game throughout the day. In the first half, the Mids passed for 105 yards - compared to zero yards for Army. The Black Knights had only 68 yards in the first two quarters.

Senior Jamie Glines (Modesto, Calif./Central Catholic) put the first points on the board, giving the Mids a 7-0 lead on a two-yard rush into the end zone with 5:48 left in the second quarter.

The Mids started the drive on Army's 22 yard-line after senior safety Chris Zachary (Frisco, Texas/Frisco) returned an interception 17 yards.

Glines, a defensive back, played on both sides of the ball today, picking up 36 receiving yards and 38 rushing yards. Glines added another 25 yards on five punt returns.

Senior quarterback Chris Ashinhurst (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) threw for over 100 yards in the first half and finished the day with 264 passing yards to earn Most Valuable Player accolades. Ashinhurst had 20 completions on 36 attempts today. Ashinhurst completed a 64-yard pass to senior wide receiver Adam Matthews for the Mids' second touchdown of the game with 12:21 left in the game.

At halftime, Navy presented Project Pride with a check for $3,004. The sprint football team collected money from the brigade earlier this week.

Army and Navy will play again on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in West Point, N.Y. in the season finale for both teams. Navy will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 10 to play Cornell at 7 p.m.
