Navy-UMass Game Time Changed For Saturday

AMHERST, Mass. ? The Navy-Massachusetts men?s lacrosse game has been pushed back to a 1 p.m. start Saturday. The game, which was originally slated to start at noon, will be played at Garber Field.

It is the ECAC opener for both teams, as the seventh-ranked Minutemen and the ninth-ranked Midshipmen are both undefeated three weeks into the season. Massachusetts captured a 13-7 victory over Sacred Heart in its opener, while it is coming off a 17-7 rout over Stony Brook last Saturday. Navy, meanwhile, enters the weekend 3-0 with victories over Marist (12-1), 19th-ranked Ohio State (13-10) and a thrilling 4 OT contest against North Carolina (9-8) last Friday night.

Saturday?s battle will pit the ECAC Lacrosse League?s Offensive Player of the Week vs. the Defensive Player of the Week. UMass attack Kevin Leveille produced a career-best 10 points on career highs of seven goals and three assists. He had six points by halftime (5 g, 1 a) and added two goals and an assist in the third and an assist in the fourth for 10 points. He became the first UMass player since Jim McAleavey scored 11 points in a win over Boston College in 1990 to reach double-figures in a single game.

Navy sophomore goalkeeper Seth DiNola (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) was named the league?s defensive player of the week after stopping a career-high 12 shots against ninth-ranked North Carolina, including a point-blank, one-on-one shot in the fourth overtime period.
