Naval Academy Announces 2003 Football Recruits

ANNAPOLIS, Md.?Navy head football coach Paul Johnson announced the names of the 2003 Navy recruits Wednesday. The fifty-seven prospects went through induction ceremonies Tuesday and began plebe summer this morning.

"I think we addressed several areas of need in this class," said Johnson. "We are excited about the athleticism and the attitude of this class."

Twenty-four recruits represent the states of Florida and Texas, 12 from each state. The Mids also signed five prospects from North Carolina and three each from California, Delaware, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Navy football season tickets are currently on sale at the Ricketts Hall Box Office or by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY. The Mids? season opener is Aug. 30 when VMI comes calling to newly-refurbished Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for a 1:30 p.m. contest
