Navy Rifle Prepares for MAC Championship

Annapolis, Md. -- Navy rifle (11-1) will travel to Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday for the 2004 Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship. The Mids will square off against Norwich and Akron as they shoot in the final competition before the NCAA Championship on Mar. 11-13.
?We're ready and looking forward to this weekend,? noted head coach Bill Kelley. ?This will be a good tune-up for NCAAs, as we look to maintain the performance level we've had for the past few weeks. Our team is shooting extremely well and they working very hard.?
Navy's four-man squad in smallbore will be team captain Marta Jung (Reno, Nev./Robert McQueen), junior Matt Albright (Shelton, Conn./Christian Heritage School), junior Mike Miller (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado) and freshman Chris Schneider (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill). Albright is Navy's record-holder in smallbore with an 1187 that he posted on Feb. 21 of this year against Army.
In air rifle, Jung, Albright and Miller will be joined by freshman Sarah Bergman (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill), who owns the Academy record in the discipline with a 398 that she shot on Feb. 14 against John Jay.
The MAC Championship is set to begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
