ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The women's team is travelling to the Yale Women's Intersectional Regatta. Twenty-two schools will be competing in two divisions of 420's. Katie Whitman, Catherine Long, Charlotte Hill, Maggie Reynolds and Andrea White will be representing the team.
Navy will be hosting the Navy Fall Intersectional out of the Robert Crown Center. Twenty teams from around the country will be competing in a four-division regatta (Flying Juniors, 420's, Laser Full Rig and Laser Radial). John Keith, Slava Haywas, Dave Parker, Gary Grimes, Kristen Sproat, Mike Mullee, Jeff Sharp, Mac Fletcher and Chuck Fulmer will be representing the team.
Last week's results
Navy hosted the Navy Fall Women's Intersectional last weekend. On saturday, the sailors were met with 18-25 knots out of the south with numerous rain squalls and very steep waves. Two races were completed inside Greenbury Point before sailors were brought in for lunch. Sailors went out after lunch and raced just south of Trident Point in 10-15 knots and rain. Courses were trapezoids and triangles with separate start/finish lines. Seven races were completed in A and B division. Eight races completed in C division. On sunday, sailors were met with chilly temperatures and 4-8 knots from the NNW. Modified trapezoids were sailed all day south of Trident Point. Racing was completed by 2:00 p.m. Navy finished fourth overall. Katie Whitman and Cat Long finished fourth in the A division. Trisha Kutkiewicz with Kira Devers-Jones (races 1-4) and Slava Haywas (races 5-13) finished seventh in B division. Charlotte Hill was fourth in C division sailing laser radials. Navy finished fourth behind Yale, Dartmouth and Georgetown.
The co-ed team traveled to Hobart for the HWS Fall Intersectional. On saturday, the sailors had 15-20 knots from the North that settled throughout the day to 10-15 knots. Trapezoids were sailed all day. Sunday gold cups and triangles were sailed in a lighter breeze from the North. Navy finished fifth overall. Garth Fasano and Kristen Sproat finished fifth in the A division. Cullen Shaughnessy with Carlin Song (races 1-12) and Kristen Sproat (races 13-14) finished sixth in the B division.
