Oklahoma, City, Okla. - One week after winning the Head of the Potomac Regatta, the Navy's women's crew team continued its 2005 fall season by placing second at the Head of the Oklahoma Regatta, Sunday afternoon in Oklahoma City.
Texas won the race by recording a time of 14:06.65 over the 4,000-meter course, with Navy finishing 10 seconds behind the Longhorns (14:16.58) and 10 seconds in front of third-place Kansas (14:26.78).
"We're a little disappointed we didn't win or finish closer to Texas, but overall we are very happy with our results against some very strong crews with a lot of recruited rowers," said Navy head coach Mike Hughes. "Our girls felt they didn't have as strong of a race technically as they could have, but they did race hard."
Navy will continue its fall season October 15 when the Mids take part in the annual Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia.
