ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The intercollegiate sailing team will be competing in five regattas this weekend.
The co-ed team is heading to the Hoyt Trophy at Brown University. Eighteen teams will be competing in 420's. John Keith, Slava Haywas, Dave Parker, Gary Grimes, Kristen Sproat and John Appelbaum will be representing the team.
The co-ed team is also travelling to Kings Point for the Kings Point Dinghy Open. Sixteen teams will be sailing 420's and FJ's. Rob Ramirez, Mike Mullee, Ian Gill, and Krysta Anthony will be representing the team.
The women's team is travelling to the Stu Nelson Intersectional at Connecticut College. Eighteen teams will be sailing FJ's. Katie Whitman, Andrea White, Trisha Kutkiewicz and Audrey Callanan will be representing the team.
Navy is hosting and competing in two regattas in Annapolis this weekend. The MAISA Freshman Championship (qualifier for the Freshman Atlantic Coast Championship) will be attended by 10 teams. Andrew Vann, Kira Devers-Jones, Andrew Hotchkiss, Stephanie Altomare and Daniel Umpa will be representing the team. The Faye Bennet Trophy/MAISA Women's Singlehanded Qualifier will be attended by 35 teams in the district. Cat Long, Charlotte Hill and Maggie Reynolds will be representing the team. The top four will move on to the Nationals hosted by the University of Hawaii in mid-November.
