ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy senior captain Scott Hackman (McLean, Va.) improved to 10-0 this season, while leading the Midshipmen squash team to a 9-0 victory over Penn State Sunday afternoon at the Bancroft Hall Squash Courts in Annapolis. Hackman, who plays the No. 2 spot on the ladder, is the only Navy regular to boast an unbeaten record this fall.
Hackman's undefeated mark was challenged by Penn State's Adam Finn, however. After Hackman won the first two games, Finn pushed the match to five games, picking up wins in the third and fourth, 9-2 and 9-3, respectively. Hackman, though, ran away in the deciding game, winning, 9-3.
Junior Dan Hellier (Modesto, Calif.) and newcomer Michael John Beautyman Jr. (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) both saw action for the Mids Sunday. Hellier dismissed Matt Cash in three games, as did Beautyman Jr. in his match against Nin Kaupancfsanyakorn.
Freshman Will Pappas (Philadelphia, Pa.) improved to 7-2 with a victory over Doug Harsch, 9-2, 9-0, 9-0, at the No. 9 spot. It was Pappas' ninth three-game match of the year.
The Midshipmen will enjoy an extended holiday break and return to action in early January when they compete at the Philadelphia Club Challenge.
