ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy intercollegiate sailing team will open its 2005-06 season this weekend, competing in three regattas, including one here in Annapolis.
The Harry Anderson Trophy will be held at Yale University. Two divisions of 420's will be sailed. Twenty-four schools from around the country will compete. This is the first intersectional regatta of the year. John Appelbaum, Katie Whitman, Andrea White, 3Dave Parker, Krysta Anthony, Mike Mullee and Audrey Callanan will be representing the team.
The Kings Point Laser Open will be sailed in laser full rigs. Twenty teams from Navy's district will compete for the top four spots, which will qualify them for the Carl Van Duyne Trophy (the qualifier for singlehanded nationals), later in the season. Chuck Fulmer and Jeff Sharp will be representing the team.
The co-ed team is also competing in the West River Sailing Club Annual Regatta in both laser full rigs and radial rigs. Kevin McGill, Jake Gerlach, Mac Fletcher, Paul Tucker and Michael Curran and will be representing Navy in full rigs. Catherine Long, Kristen Ullman, Charlotte Hill, Maggie Reynolds, Kira Devers-Jones and Trisha Kutkiewicz will represent the team in radials.
