Navy IC Sailing Has a Tough Weekend

Sept. 27, 2006

The Navy IC sailing team was in four events this weekend and had mixed results. The less-experienced sailors got their first look at collegiate sailing with the MAISA Clinic and Regatta hosted at the Robert Crown Center. The Midshipmen did well with a fourth-place finish out of 18 teams. The Women's team went to St. Mary's to sail a coed event there and did well in the B division finishing third, but ended up a disappointing eighth out of 16 teams overall. The tough finish was Midshipman Mac Fletcher who finished just two points out of qualifying for the Single-handed semi's in our Conference. Navy Sailing also competed in a very competitive event at Tufts University in Boston and finished 19th. Navy sailing is looking for a much better weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday when the No. 2-ranked women in the country go for their single-handed qualifier here at Navy's Robert Crown Center.
