ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Junior Adam Meyer (Bethesda, Md.) won a pair of individual events and swam on the winning 200 medley relay squad pacing the Navy men's swimming and diving team to a pair of meet victories over Brown and Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at Lejeune Hall.
The Midshipmen defeated Brown, 155-131, while cruising past Dartmouth, 179-110, to improve to 10-0 on the year. Navy registered the top performance in 12 of the 16 events contested on the afternoon.
"I was happy with our efforts today - from beginning to end," said Navy men's swimming head coach Bill Roberts. "We had a lot of guys step up and turn in some season-best times. There is still some work to do, but I am certainly satisfied with they way we came out and performed."
Meyer led a Navy sweep of the 200 fly turning in a time of 2:01.59. His brother, freshman Mark Meyer (Bethesda, Md.), touched in second place (2:04.60) and was followed by sophomore Patrick Veltman (Midlothian, Va.) in third (2:06.40).
The third-year swimmer later headed the Mids' 1-2 finish in the 200 breaststroke with a clocking of 2:22.35. Meyer's classmate Andrew Utama (Walnut Creek, Calif.) was the next-fastest performer as he claimed runner-up honors with a time of 2:25.00.
Sophomore Erik Hunter (Placerville, Calif.) was also a double-event winner for Navy, posting wins in the 400 and 800 freestyle events. Hunter recorded a season-best time of 8:14.97 in the 800 race and later claimed a victory in the 400 (3:59.03) as the Mids went 1-2-3 in the event.
Navy also produced a sweep of the 50 freestyle event led by senior Alex Oldenkamp's (Coppell, Texas) 23.62 clocking.
Also turning in individual victories for the Mids were freshman Mac Anthony (Allentown, Pa.) and sophomore Olaf Olson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.). Anthony paced the field in the 200 free with a season-best 1:51.98 effort, while Olson won the 1-meter dive with a score of 318.85. The second-year diver also registered the highest 3-meter score with 386.05 points as an exhibition competitor.
Navy fielded the fastest foursome in each of the two relay events. The team of senior Ari Molina (Arlington, Va.), junior Andrew Hetzner (Riverside, Calif.), Adam Meyer and Oldenkamp swam to a meet-opening 200 medley relay victory in 1:45.36.
Oldenkamp also swam on the Mids' 400 freestyle relay squad, which touched the wall more than three seconds prior to its nearest competitor. Mac Anthony, along with sophomores Alex Buck (Lisle, Ill.) and Aaron Aiken (Ocala, Fla.), rounded out the exhibition unit which posted a time of 3:27.49.
Navy will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 4, when it travels to West Point to take on Army in the annual Star Meet. The action is slated to begin at 7:15 p.m. The Midshipmen will look to stretch their N-Star winning streak to 18 meets following last year's 231-69 victory over the Black Knights in Annapolis.
