Sept. 1, 2008
In Attendance: Don Markus (Baltimore Sun)
Markus: Did you find anything wrong with what Shun did after watching the tape?
Niumatalolo: Yeah, he had one assignment bust.
Markus: Any decision on the quarterback? I saw that Kaipo didn’t practice today.
Niumatalolo: Right now Jarod is still our quarterback. I thought Jarod played a good game. He made some bad decisions with the ball, but he will get better at that. Jarod played a great game besides the fumble, but a fumble can get you beat. You might miss an assignment and you can line up and play again, but a fumble will get you beat. Taking care of the ball is a top priority for us; I don’t care who it is. Shun, Jarod, Kaipo if you don’t take care of the ball it is hard for us to beat anybody.
Markus: Do you expect him to start on Friday night?
Niumatalolo: Yes
Markus: And will Ricky (Dobbs) back him up?
Niumatalolo: Yes
Markus: Has Kaipo’s injury just not progressed?
Niumatalolo: No, it actually has progressed and we are getting closer to having him ready to play, but we don’t want to push him too much. We are gradually increasing what he does in practice.
