Results

BRONX, N.Y. - Navy women's cross country runner Amy Watson (Jr./Hampstead, Md.) produced the second-best overall time to lead the Midshipmen to a title at the 20-team Fordham Invitational on Saturday morning in Van Cortlandt Park.

Navy produced five of the eight-quickest times of the day to total 26 points. Quinnipiac placed second with 79 points, followed by St. Joseph's 107 points, Williams' 107 points and Rutgers 152 points to round out the top-five teams.

Watson, the reigning Patriot League Runner of the Week, completed the 5k race in 18:45.12 to finish just behind Rutgers' Cheyenne Oglette, who competed at the NCAA Championship one season ago. Last week at the Mount St. Mary's 5k Duals, Watson topped the 66-runner field by more than a 10-second cushion.

Katie Rentz (So./San Diego, Calif.) came in fourth place with a time of 19:04.20, followed by teammate Maureen Dooley's (Sr./Durham, Conn.) fifth-place 19:13.07 clocking. Rookie Jess Palacio (Fr./Sun Valley, Nev.) landed in seventh place with a 19:18.05 showing and Erica Ziel (Jr./Saginaw, Mich.) rounded out the scoring five with an eighth-place time of 19:22.01.

Navy will return to action next Saturday when it hosts the Salty Dog Invitational at the USNA Cross Country Course. Race time is slated for 11:30 a.m.
