Final Stats

CLEMSON, S.C. - For the second time in as many days, the Navy men's tennis team fell at the hands of a nationally-ranked program, as No. 64 Clemson rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Mids on Saturday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.

The host Tigers, who in addition to holding a national ranking as a team, also have multiple regionally-ranked singles players, won the three doubles matches against the visiting Mids and then completed a sweep by taking all six singles contests.

Navy previously dropped a 7-0 decision at No. 22 North Carolina on Friday afternoon.

Nick Birger (So., Belleville, Ill.) and Jason Hill (Sr., Marietta, Ga.) lost a hard-fought 9-8 No. 3 doubles match to Clemson's Ike Belk and Kevin Fleck. Hill also took the first set of his match at No. 4 singles, 6-1, before dropping the second (6-2) and third (6-4) sets to Clemson's Derek DiFazio.

Johnny Waters (Sr., Papillion, Neb.) and Owen Bullard (So., Concord, N.C.) both also won the first sets of their respective matches before falling at the No. 3 and No. 6 singles spots.

The Mids close out the weekend on Sunday afternoon when they square off with a much-improved UNC Greensboro squad at 12 noon.
