Final Stats

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Five different Midshipmen won multiple events to help the Navy men's swimming and diving team record a 162-133 victory over Columbia, Friday afternoon in New York City.

"I was very pleased with our performance today," said Navy men's swimming head coach Bill Roberts. "We raced very well this afternoon and are looking to maintain that level Saturday afternoon."

Sparking the Mids on the day was Andrew Hetzner (Jr., Riverside, Calif.), who won both backstroke events. His time of 51.44 won him the 100 back by 1.8 seconds, with his clocking of 1:51.95 giving him the win in the 200 back by 2.5 seconds. He led a 1-2-3 Navy finish in the latter event.

Adam Meyer (Jr., Bethesda, Md.) and Erik Hunter (So., Placerville, Calif.) both continued their respective strong seasons Friday as both won a pair of events. Meyer won the 200 butterfly in a time of 1:49.53 and the 200 breaststroke with a clocking of 2:07.98. Hunter, meanwhile, recorded wins in the 800 freestyle (9:27.57) and the 400 individual medley (4:01.11) events.

Mac Anthony (Fr., Allentown, Pa.) also put together a pair of impressive performances in winning the 200 and 500 freestyle races. He won the shorter of the two events with a time of 1:40.57, with his time of 4:40.51 giving him the win in the longer race.

Completing the list of multiple event winners for Navy was diver Olaf Olson (So., Bainbridge Island, Wash.), who swept the two boards. He won the one meter with a tally of 329.70 and the three meter with a score of 334.88. The second-place finisher in both events was teammate Jon Galinski (Sr., Phoenix, Md.), who scored 327.01 and 322.66 points, respectively, on the two boards.

Navy also won the 200 medley relay on the day, with the winning team comprised by the foursome of Hetzner, Ari Molina (Sr., Arlington, Va.), Meyer and Alex Oldenkamp (Sr., Coppell, Texas).

The victory allows Navy to head into its regular season finale Saturday against Princeton with a 17-1 record on the season. Columbia, meanwhile, falls to 4-5 on the season with the loss.

The meet between the Mids and the Tigers will begin at 2 p.m. in Navy's Lejeune Hall.
