Navy Places Second at USAG Collegiate Division Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Navy gymnast Dylan Parrott (So./Rockwell, N.C.) finished fourth in the all-around and placed among the top-four competitors in two events to lead the Midshipmen to a second-place finish at the USAG Collegiate Division Championship on Friday night at Kaplan Arena.

Host William & Mary won its 13th USAG Collegiate Division team title with a score of 337.15 points. Navy's 333.75 points were good for second place, followed by Air Force's 332.75 points, Springfield's 328.95 points and MIT's 313.3 points.

The Midshipmen boasted the highest team score on the parallel bars with a 54.9-point performance. The Mids produced the second-highest mark on the floor exercise (55.35 points), pommel horse (55.4 points), still rings (55.9 points) and high bar (53.85 points).

Parrott led the Midshipmen with a fourth-place score of 81.3 points in the all-around. The Navy sophomore placed first on the parallel bars with a 14.05-point routine and finished fourth on the floor exercise with a similar 14.05-point showing.

Team captain Adam Stanton (Sr./Centennial, Colo.) posted Navy's other top performance on Friday night. Stanton landed first on the pommel horse with an impressive 14.85-point score and also scored 14.3 points on the still rings for sixth place.

Classmate Joseph Atzenbeck (Sr./Broomfield, Colo.) finished among the top-six gymnasts in three events. He placed second on the high bar with a 14.1-point performance, sixth on the pommel horse with a 13.85-point showing and a similar sixth-place showing on the parallel bars with 13.75 points.

Navy's Andrew Faulk (Fr./San Antonio, Texas) came in sixth place in the all-around competition with 80.55 points, highlighted by a 14.0-point effort for sixth on the floor exercise. Trey James (Sr./Matthews, N.C.) produced a pair of eighth-place scores on the parallel bars (13.65 points) and high bar (13.5 points), while Ken Lee (Sr./Rockville, Md.) tied for eighth on the still rings (14.1 points).

The Midshipmen will compete in the individual event finals tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Last year, seven Mids earned USAG Collegiate Division All-America status.
