WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Navy gymnasts Dylan Parrott (So./Rockwell, N.C.) and Joseph Atzenbeck (Sr./Broomfield, Colo.) each won an event to highlight Navy's efforts at the USAG Collegiate Division Championship individual event finals on Saturday night at Kaplan Arena.
All together, five Navy gymnasts combined to bring home eight USAG Collegiate Division All-America honors on Saturday.
Parrott claimed top honors on the floor exercise with a stellar 14.8-point performance. He would also earn All-America status on the vault, where executed a 15.15-point routine. The Navy sophomore also participated on the parallel bars, placing eighth with a score of 11.5 points.
Atzenbeck boasted the highest score of the night on the high bar with a 14.2-point showing. He also scored 13.35 points on the parallel bars to place fifth and claimed a spot on the All-America squad. The product of Broomfield, Colo., also competed on the pommel horse and landed in eighth place with a 12.6-point effort.
Team captain Adam Stanton (Sr./Centennial, Colo.) earned All-America distinction in two events on Saturday. Stanton placed third on the pommel horse with a 13.55-point routine and earned a 14.2 from the judges on the still rings to finish fifth.
Andrew Faulk (Fr./San Antonio, Texas) and Trey James (Sr./Matthews, N.C.) each were named All-Americans by the USAG. Faulk landed second on the floor exercise, behind only his teammate Parrott, with a score of 14.35 points. James came in fourth on the high bar with a 13.75-point performance. Ken Lee (Sr./Rockville, Md.) also saw action on Saturday night, as he produced a 13.2-point routine on the still rings for eighth place.
Navy will return to action next weekend when it heads up to West Point, N.Y., for the ECAC Championship. The team and all-around competition will take place on Friday, April 3, at 6 p.m., followed by the individual event finals on Saturday, April 4, at 6 p.m.
