Navy Women's Track Concludes First Day at ECAC Meet

BOSTON - Senior Abby Gesecki (Nanticoke, Pa.) finished as Navy's top performer with a 10th-place effort in a competitive 500-meter race as the Midshipmen women's track & field squad completed the first day of action on Saturday at the ECAC Indoor Championships.

Gesecki, one of four Navy individuals competing on the weekend, finished 10th in a time of 1:15.02, before teaming up with classmate Allie Moreland (Ocean City, N.J.), sophomore Kayla Sax (Richland, Wash.) and freshman Jess Palacio (Sparks, Nev.) to take 12th of 24 teams in the 4x800-meter relay in 9:11.54.

In the 5,000-meter run, juniors Amy Watson (Hampstead, Md.) and Erica Ziel (Saginaw, Mich.) respectively finished in 13th (17:27.37) and 18th (17:49.03).

Freshman Ashley Aitken (Yuma, Ariz.) rounded out the Mids' efforts with a 9.27, 20th-place effort in the 60-meter hurdles.

Navy will close out the weekend competition when it competes in the distance medley relay on Sunday afternoon. The DMR is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start.
