MINNEAPOLIS - Navy gymnastics team captain Adam Stanton (Sr./Centennial, Colo.) competed on the pommel horse at the NCAA Championship prelims on Friday night at the University of Minnesota's Sports Pavilion.
Stanton earned a score of 14.0 points on the pommel horse from the judges to place 34th overall on Friday night. The Navy team captain reached the NCAA Championship prelims following his 14th-place score of 14.05 points yesterday in the NCAA Qualifying Meet.
The top-10 gymnasts on each event claimed a spot in the NCAA Championship individual event finals, which will be held on Saturday night.
Friday's performance concluded a 2009 Navy gymnastics season that featured an impressive 15-4 record, a second-place finish at the ECAC Championship, a N-Star victory at Army and a second-straight All-Academy Championship.
