ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Navy senior cornerback Rashawn King (Raleigh, N.C.) has been named to the 2009 Hampshire Honor Society, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced.
The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of student-athletes from all divisions of college football in their last year of eligibility who maintained a 3.2 grade point average or higher, while being a starter or significant substitute.
King, who carries a 3.2 GPA in English, was a three-year starter for the Midshipmen and finished his career with 160 career tackles, four interceptions, seven pass deflections, four tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble as he was an integral part of a senior class that won four Commander-In-Chief's Trophies and went to four bowl games. King has also been a star off the field, serving as the Chief of Staff for the Brigade of Midshipmen during the spring semester, the third highest-ranking Midshipmen in the chain-of-command. King's service selection is Marine Corps ground.
A total of 564 student-athletes from 266 institutions qualified for membership in the society.
