ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) has announced that season tickets for men's and women's soccer are now on sale for the upcoming seasons. The women's home schedule features nine home games, while the men's team will play eight games at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
Navy soccer season tickets are just $60 for adults and $30 for youths (17 & younger). Season tickets include all 17 regular-season men's and women's home games at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The men's team will open its 2010 season on Thursday, Sept. 2 against 2009 NCAA Tournament participant Wofford, while the women's squad will open its home slate on Friday, Aug. 27 against Mount St. Mary's.
Single-game tickets are available this year for $7 for adults and $5 for children (17 & under). Group tickets (minimum 20) are available for $3 each.
The NAAA also has several exciting promotions on tap as well. On the men's side, the popular `Meet the Mids' is scheduled for Oct. 9 following the tilt with Lehigh. This is a chance to meet the team after the game and get autographs from your favorite players.
The opening weekend of the season is being promoted as `Make It a Navy Soccer Week'. All fans that purchase a ticket to the season opener on Thursday, Sept. 2 vs. Wofford, will receive free admission to the Sept. 4 contest against VMI. In addition, both games are being offered the popular `Family Night Out', where a family of four receives four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for just $20.
The following weekend, fans can bring their football ticket stub from that afternoon's contest with Georgia Southern to the soccer game against UMBC and receive free admission. The October 30 contest against Colgate also offers the same ticket deal (football plays Duke on Homecoming that day).
On November 6, all Billy the Kid Club members will get free admission to Navy's regular-season finale against Lafayette. Also, there will be a hot chocolate mug giveaway with complimentary hot chocolate at the concession stands.
The Navy men's soccer team returns six starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's team that went 8-11-0 overall. The Mids will feature one of the youngest teams in the country as just six juniors and seniors will be on the roster. The eight wins last year matched the most for the program since the 2001 team went 11-3-3.
On the women's side, Navy will have their home opener against Mount St. Mary's on Friday, Aug. 27. Free school supplies will be giving out to kids 12 and under during the Back to School Night promotion. On Sunday, Sept. 12, fans can take part in Navy Soccer Fest and also `Meet the Mids' during a special postgame autograph and photo session, following the Navy Invitational game against Manhattan.
For the Sept. 12 (Manhattan) and Oct. 16 (Bucknell) games, fans showing their Navy football ticket stub at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility gates will receive a free ticket to the soccer game. The football games will be against Georgia Southern on Sept. 11 and SMU on Oct. 16. Also for the Bucknell game, any student who brings a test, paper or report card with an "A" will receive $2 admission for `Make the Grade Day'.
Fans attending the Sept. 10 (Charleston Southern) and Oct. 22 (Lehigh) games are encouraged to `Make it a Navy Soccer Weekend' and will receive complimentary admission to the Sunday contests on each of those weekends.
On October 29, all Billy the Kid Club members will get free admission to Navy's Senior Day game against American. Also, there will be a hot chocolate mug giveaway with complimentary hot chocolate at the concession stands.
The Navy women's team will return nine starters from last season's squad that went 14-5-2 under 18th-year head coach Carin Gabarra. The Mids advanced to their fourth straight Patriot League Tournament in 2009 and will return a pair of all-conference selections.
